As a health coach, one of my favorite things is helping clients have those "aha" moments when they start connecting the dots between what they eat and how they feel. Today was a big one!

I met with a client who has been dealing with multiple back-to-back UTIs. She’s been on antibiotics for over a month, along with multiple other medications to help manage the issue.

I asked if her doctor had discussed her diet with her, and she said no. So, I asked her to walk me through a typical day of eating.

As she went through her day, two things immediately popped out: her cinnamon oatmeal and canned peaches. Both were consumed before noon.

I asked her to head to the cupboard and read the labels. Here’s what we discovered…

Two packages of cinnamon oatmeal = 22 grams of sugar

One can of peaches labeled “in its own juices” = 77 grams of sugar

That’s 99 grams of sugar before noon!

When we added up those two items, she looked at me and said, “Oh my God, I’m probably diabetic!”

This is why reading labels matters!

Foods that seem healthy can contain more sugar than we realize.

This isn't about judging food, creating fear, or eliminating everything you enjoy. It's about becoming more aware of what you're putting into your body so you can make informed choices that support your health.

As a health coach, my goal isn't to tell you what you can and can't eat. It's to help you understand your choices, ask better questions, and recognize opportunities to support your health.

Sometimes, the smallest changes start with something as simple as turning the package around and reading the label. 💜

A little wisdom from the classroom yesterday...

One student called another student a “poopy face.” When it was brought to the teacher’s attention, I literally had to turn around so the kids wouldn’t see me laughing - seriously, when was the last time you heard someone called a poopy face?

The teacher handled it beautifully. Her advice? “If someone calls you a poopy face, just walk away. It’s a glitch.”

Not every comment deserves a response. Not every opinion needs our attention. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is recognize the nonsense, refuse to give it our energy, and simply walk away.

And let’s be honest… some people are just truly poopy faces.

You don’t have to overhaul your entire life overnight. Small, consistent changes add up. It’s not about chasing perfection, looking a certain way, or simply adding years to your life. It’s about adding life to your years.

I’m 56, and I’m working on becoming the strongest, healthiest version of myself—not just for today, but for the woman I want to be at 70, 80, and beyond.

The goal isn’t just to live longer. It’s to live better.

So, ask yourself: What is one thing you can start doing today that your 80-year-old self will thank you for?

In case you needed a little reminder… sometimes it’s the little things that bring us the most happiness. Take a moment to notice them, appreciate them, and let them fill your cup. Sometimes, the simplest things really are the best things. 💜

An impromptu break from making products to hit the trails with these beautiful humans. Grateful for friendship, beautiful fall days, and movement that feels good. Sometimes stepping away from the to-do list and getting outside is exactly what we need to do. 💜

As the protein trend continues, be mindful of what you’re actually putting in your body.

Not all protein is created equal. It’s worth looking beyond the number of grams and paying attention to the ingredients, quality, and what else comes along with that “protein.”

And yes…that includes your protein coffee from Dunkin’.

For example, a Pumpkin Protein Latte has 460 calories, 66 grams of sugar, 42 grams of added sugar, and 23 grams of protein.

Compare that to a 4-ounce beef patty: roughly 200–290 calories, 0 grams of sugar, and about 20 grams of protein—with a much simpler ingredient list.

Protein is an important part of a healthy diet, but more isn’t always better. Choose quality, real-food sources when you can, and don’t let the word “protein” automatically make something a healthy choice.

As we head into the weekend, remember to make a little time for yourself. Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Often, it’s the simple things that help us feel our best.

Get outside and enjoy some fresh air
Move your body in a way that feels good
Spend a little time in the sunshine
Put your phone down and be present
Nourish your body with good food
Give yourself permission to rest
Spend time with people who fill your cup

This playlist popped up on my Apple Music while working out…and it got me thinking about the choices we make with our money.

For less than the cost of a latte or a Dunkin’ run, I get Apple Music and my Planet Fitness membership.

And yes, I love a good latte too!

But when I think about longevity, strength, movement, and feeling good for years to come, I have to say these two memberships are probably serving me a whole lot better than a daily latte.

Just another little choice that works for me. ❤️
