✨ Creating Space for Healing & Connection ✨
We recently made a change in our program and moved therapy groups out of the dorms and into a dedicated therapeutic group room designed to promote safety, engagement, and connection.
With pastel colors, softer lighting, aromatherapy, motivational artwork, and cohesive seating, the space helps the girls feel more relaxed and open to participating.
Each group creates and signs its own set of ground rules, which often includes expectations such as respect, active listening, and confidentiality (“What is said in group, stays in group”). This gives the girls ownership of the space and helps build trust within the group.
Every session begins with a check-in where youth identify:
💭 How they’re feeling
🎯 A goal for the day
🤝 Who they can reach out to for support
Groups cover topics including emotional regulation, healthy relationships, boundaries, self-esteem, trauma recovery, coping skills, and exploitation prevention and recovery.
We’ve learned that creating the right environment matters. When youth enter this room, they know they’re entering a space dedicated to healing, growth, and support.
