Ever Feel Like You’re Wearing Socks… When You’re Barefoot?
It sounds strange, but some people with peripheral neuropathy describe the sensation of an invisible “sock” around their feet.
Peripheral neuropathy occurs when nerves outside the brain and spinal cord are damaged. Because those nerves carry sensory information, the result isn’t always straightforward pain. You might experience numbness, tingling, burning, unusual sensitivity, or simply feel like something is under or around your feet when nothing is there.
Those changes in sensation can also make it harder to feel the ground normally, which may contribute to problems with balance or walking.
At Prescott Preferred Chiropractic, our neuropathy evaluation includes a thorough assessment and foot scan to better understand what you’re experiencing and determine whether you may be a candidate for care.
If your feet regularly feel numb, tingly, burning, or just strangely “different,” don’t assume it’s simply part of getting older. It’s worth finding out what’s going on.
