Could poor circulation be putting your healing at risk?

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) occurs when arteries become narrowed or blocked, reducing blood flow to the legs and feet. Without adequate circulation, wounds may heal slowly or become chronic.

Common risk factors for PAD include:
• Diabetes
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol
• Smoking

Know the warning signs:
• Pain, cramping or aching in the legs, especially with activity
• Numbness, tingling or weakness in the feet or legs
• Coldness in the lower leg or foot
• Pale, bluish or discolored skin
• Shiny skin or hair loss on the legs
• Sores or wounds on the toes, feet or legs that don't heal

Don't dismiss leg pain or changes in your feet as a normal part of aging. If you have risk factors for PAD or are experiencing symptoms, talk with your healthcare provider about whether a vascular evaluation may be needed.

Recognizing poor circulation and seeking specialized wound care can help identify underlying problems, support healing and reduce complications.

A huge thank you to all of our incredible community partners who helped make the 5th Annual Back to School Event a success!

Together, we provided free school supplies and resources to 109 students from 57 families in our community. Even more special? Every school supply was provided through generous donations from our community partners.

We are so grateful for the businesses, organizations and individuals who continue to show up for local families and help students start the school year ready to learn and succeed.
