Joseph T. "Joey" Brake, age 51, of Princeton, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at Caldwell Medical Center.

Joey was born May 19, 1975 to the late Joe and Helen Stanfield Brake. Joey was a hardworking and devoted husband and father who dedicated his life to his family. He found great joy in the outdoors and loved spending time fishing, camping, and boating. Joey was also passionate about cooking and was always happy to share a meal with family and friends. He had a way of making others feel special and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and the love he showed to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Brake of Princeton; daughters, Kelsie Brake of McEwen, TN, Tori (Ryan) Carroll of Hohenwald, TN, Emily (Kyle) Champlin of Hohenwald, TN, Jaelyn (Ty) Mullins of Princeton; brother, Mike (Erin) Brake of Goodlettsville, TN, grandchildren, Steele, Stiles, Brooks, Landry and baby Remmington on the way; sister-in-law, Nikki Brake of Linden, TN; nieces and nephews, Travis Shorter, Ryan Shorter, Sierra Horner, Maddie Brake and Trevor Brake.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Alana Dawn Brake; brother, Jeff Brake.

Betty Jean Faughn Rahn, age 95, of Caldwell County, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Rivers Bend Retirement Community.

Betty was born August 25, 1930 to the late Auther and Florence Gray Faughn. She was a member of White Sulphur Baptist Church and was a retired bookkeeper.

She is survived by four sons, Gordon Wade (Peggy) Rahn of Clarksville, TN, Barry Thomas Rahn of Frankfort, James Richard (LaDonna) Rahn of Virginia and Tony Martin (Elaine) Rahn of Saltillo, TN; grandchildren, Adam (Jenn) Rahn, Ashley (Ricky) Powell, Alison (Kyle) Bourelle, Allison Thompson, Hannah (Reece) Miller, Austin (Jessica) Rahn and Addison (Shannon) Rahn; ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Richard Rahn; sister, Magdalene Tosh; brother, John Isaac Faughn.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Morgan's Funeral Home.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Mr. Howard Rhea Hurt, age 90, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.

Howard, nicknamed “Muggins” was born on September 12th, 1935, in Elkton, Kentucky, to the late Melvin Hurt and Fleeta Dill Hurt.

Howard was a devoted husband and loving father. Caring for his wife, Lynn was always a priority. He showed his love to his family not only through his words, but through constant support, compassion and unwavering dedication.

Howard carried himself with a quiet strength, integrity and kindness, always true to his word. He was a true gentleman until the end.

He was an avid hiker, cyclist, walker, and golfer who enjoyed staying active and spending time outdoors. His devotion to fitness enabled his to reach the bottom of the Grand Canyon on three different occasions. An accomplishment he was very proud of. He enjoyed many other adventurous hikes locally and throughout the United States.

Howard served his country proudly. He served in the United States Navy as well the United States Army, from which he retired. His military travels took him all over the world, he was very proud of his military service. After his military career he worked and retired from Special Metals in Princeton, KY and served and retired from the position of City Clerk in Princeton, KY.

In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kristy Lynn Hurt, two sisters, Eunice Hegle, June Vass and one brother, James “Red” Hurt.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lynn Lacey Hurt, of Paducah, his daughters, Donna Hurt of Nashville, TN, Karen Hurt of Elkton, KY and his son, Tony Hurt (Susan) of Cadiz, Ky. His stepdaughters, Tammy (Fraser) Johnstone of Lexington, KY, Susan (Jeff) Thomas of Paducah, KY and Lelia (Dave) Jackson of Aliso Viejo, California. Eleven grandchildren and Fourteen great-grandchildren.

Private graveside services, with full military honors, will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton, Kentucky.

Kathleen Vinson Oliver, age 91, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Caldwell Medical Center.

Kathleen was born September 17, 1934 to the late Raymon and Hazel Booker Vinson. She was a 30 year employee serving as the medical records clerk at Caldwell County Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Princeton and a past member of Caldwell County Homemakers Association.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Todd) Turcotte of Princeton; son, Brad (Lisa Payne) Oliver of Central City, KY; sister, Jane (Jim) Dorroh of Princeton; grandchildren, Matt Oliver, Daniel Oliver and Michael Oliver; great-grandchild, Mary Grace Oliver; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, William "Bill" Richard Oliver; son, William Anthony "Tony" Oliver; sisters, Jewell Tooley and Janice Burkhart; brother, Jerry Vinson.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, May 29, 2026 at Morgan's Funeral Home.

Ophelia Tinsley Scott, 89, of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at her home.

She was born on November 3, 1936, in Webster County, Kentucky, to her late parents, Robert and Thelda Protella Collins. In 2003, she made history as the first Black female magistrate in the Commonwealth of Kentucky when she was appointed Magistrate of the 2nd District of Caldwell County following the passing of her first husband, completing his term with dignity and compassion. That same year, she was honored with a key to the City of Princeton in recognition of her service and commitment to the community. She was also named a Kentucky Colonel, one of the Commonwealth’s highest honors.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Ophelia served more than 50 years in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Church of God in Christ in Henderson. Throughout her years of ministry and service, she held numerous leadership roles, including Presbytery and Secretary at her local church in Princeton for over five decades, two terms as moderator of the Ohio Valley Presbytery, Kentucky State Synod Secretary overseeing five states for four years, and National Missionary Society Treasurer for 15 years. Beyond her many accomplishments, she will be remembered for her enjoyment of cooking, crochet work, word puzzle books, and traveling, as well as the special joy she found in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, John Tinsley and Roy Tinsley II, both of Princeton; one sister, Ruth Collins of Henderson; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Tinsley; second husband, Theophilus Scott; two sons, Bobby Tinsley, Manuel Tinsley; sister, Mary Collins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Morgan's Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Morgan's Funeral Home.

Charles "Chuck" Tandy, 67, of Princeton, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

He was born on December 10, 1958, in Caldwell County to his late parents Charles Tandy and Georgia Louise Tandy Oden.

Chuck Tandy served for many years as an ordained Youth Minister at Grace Baptist Church. His ministry was marked by compassion, steady leadership, and a sincere commitment to helping others grow spiritually and personally. He built a respected career in public education, teaching in both Texas and Indiana. Following retirement from teaching, Chuck transitioned into home contracting, where he applied the same dedication and strong work ethic that had defined his earlier careers. Chuck was deeply devoted to his family and found great joy in caring for animals.

He is survived by six sisters, Joan (Percy) Belt, of Hopkinsville, Nancy Hawkins, of Princeton, Lisa (Ricky) Haney of Princeton, Carla Burklow of Marion, IL, Judi (Danny) Riddle of Princeton, Cathy Beavers of Princeton, and one brother, Roger (Liz) Tandy of Florida.

In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by his sister, Becky Oliver and brother, Terry Tandy.

There will be no service held at this time.

Joy Elizabeth Watson, 96 of Princeton, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at her home.

She was born on February 5, 1930, in Caldwell, Kentucky, to her late parents, Dennie and Robbie Vinson.

Joy Watson was the oldest member of Donaldson Missionary Baptist Church. She was admired for her steady Christian example and lifelong devotion to the church. Joy attended Shady Grove School in her younger years and later graduated from Fredonia School. Her wisdom, kindness, and strong values left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Joy especially enjoyed the simple traditions of country life, and she was well known for her love of canning, whether preserving vegetables from the garden or preparing homemade favorites for family. Above all, her faith guided every part of her life. She treasured reading the Bible and faithfully read it through at least 50 times over the years, a reflection of her deep spiritual commitment and love for God’s word.

Joy is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Roy Gene) Rogers of Fredonia; two sons, Stephen (Dee) Watson and David Watson, of Princeton; sister, Sue Knight; grandchildren, Beau (Lori) Rogers, Dawn (Don) Faulk, Brody (Haley) Rogers, Coley (Kaitlin) Rogers, Tate Rogers, and Denver Watson; great grandchildren are Paycen Rogers, Hadlie Rogers, Gatlin Rogers, Deacon Carter, Mallie Faulk, J.B. and Margaret Rogers, Ava Grace Rogers, and Ezra Lee Rogers

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Watson; one sister, Jeanette Hutchins; and one brother, Charles Vinson.

Debra Lynn Richardville, known to family and friends as Lynn, passed away at home on May 20, 2026, at the age of 72. She was born on May 14, 1954, in Caldwell County, Kentucky.

Lynn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her. She was married to Freddie Richardville of Princeton, Kentucky, for 26 years, and together they shared a life filled with love, companionship, and many memories. She was the proud mother of Shelley Lynn White of Princeton, Kentucky, Carla Haynes and her husband Carlos of Springfield, Tennessee, Janey Richardville of Gallatin, Tennessee, and son, Lance White and his wife Laura Lee of Princeton, Kentucky. She also leaves behind her brother, Michael Hubbard and his wife Peggy Ann of Princeton, Kentucky, as well as her grandchildren, Kylee White, Jacob Haynes and his wife Erin, and Nicholas Haynes and his wife Kate. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clint Roosevelt Hubbard and Jackie Hazel Salyer Hubbard, whose memory remained close to her heart throughout her life. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with them, share stories, and enjoy the simple moments that became lasting memories.

Lynn retired after 20 years of service as a correctional officer at the West Kentucky Correctional Complex. She was respected for her dedication, strong work ethic, and steady commitment throughout her career. Her years of service reflected the dependable and caring nature that defined so much of her life.

Outside of work, Lynn found joy in the things that made life fun and meaningful. She loved vacationing in the Smoky Mountains, camping, golfing, and watching NASCAR racing. She especially enjoyed simply enjoying life and making the most of each day.

Dennis W. "Denny" Brasher, age 84, of Fredonia, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026 at his home.

Denny was born October 25, 1941 to the late Cecil and Edna Wring Brasher. He was a member of Fredonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he dedicated his time to community services and helping others. Denny was also a valued member of the American Legion and the Lions Clubs International.

He found great joy in fishing, gardening, and caring for his yard, truly blessed with a green thumb. Above all, Denny loved his wife dearly and treasured the life they shared. He will be remembered for his kindness, service, and love for family and community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Hannah May Brasher; two step-sons, Jamie McDowell and David McDowell both of Fredonia; step-grandchildren, Brynna, Ryan and Devin McDowell; step-great-grandchildren, Ryder and Ryah Williams, Julius and Zane McDowell and Helena Stewart; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Kunnecke; brother, Donald Brasher.

A memorial service for Dennis Brasher will be held Friday, May 22, 2026 at 11:00 am at Fredonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

IN LOVING MEMORY

Sue Simms, 78, of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at her home.

She was born on March 22, 1948, in Cadiz, Kentucky, to her late parents, John and Beulah Croft Yandell. Sue came to Caldwell County at just two months old and made it her lifelong home. A proud graduate of Caldwell County High School’s Class of 1966, she devoted her life to serving the community she loved. In 1987, she began her career with the Caldwell County Board of Education as a secretary and receptionist, serving students, families, and staff until her retirement in 2014. Alongside her work in the school system, she also spent many years as a beloved bus driver.

Sue’s love for Caldwell County High School and its students was especially evident through her unwavering support of the Tigers' football. She took great pride in driving the 1998 State Championship football team and was later honored with induction into the school’s Hall of Fame. She even served as the Tigers’ mascot so she could be on the field alongside the team she cherished. Her dedication and servant’s heart earned her many honors over the years, including recognition as a Kentucky Colonel, the Mr. Henry Smith Award, and the Unsung Hero Award presented by the Community Disciples.

Sue dedicated 22 years to Caldwell County Project Graduation, serving in leadership roles, including secretary and chairman. She was also a member of First Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery and as a church bus driver.

SueMomma, as she was known to her family, is survived by two sons, Jeff (Amy) Simms and John Y Simms, both of Princeton; one granddaughter, Ellie Simms, and a young man she mentored, Carlo Moore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Yandell; two brothers, John Wayne Yandell and Jack Yandell; and several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Fortenberry officiating and Bro. Jeff Boone is assisting. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Morgan's Funeral Home.
