🩺 Health care professionals: There is still time to apply for Invest Rural NJ. Eligible clinicians can receive financial incentives for committing to at least five years of service in rural communities across the state.

The program is open to new and current clinicians, including physicians, dentists, advanced practice clinicians, nurses, and behavioral health professionals. Participating clinicians will also have access to virtual learning collaboratives, evidence-based tools, and quality improvement support through the Quality Institute.

An estimated 300,000 to 500,000 New Jersey residents are at risk of losing health coverage under H.R. 1, and some of those coverage losses are preventable. The Quality Institute is launching education sessions and resources to help health care and community-based organizations keep eligible residents enrolled in NJ FamilyCare. By working together to strengthen enrollment and outreach, we can help more people stay covered and able to access care.

Measles cases are rising across the country. While New Jersey does not currently have a measles outbreak, our statewide childhood immunization rate has fallen to 91.3% — the lowest level in eight years. As Quality Institute President and CEO Linda Schwimmer recently wrote, “This is a troubling trend that, if it continues, will inevitably lead to outbreaks and harm.” Maintaining strong vaccination rates is one of our most effective tools for preventing outbreaks and protecting our communities.

A recent article from The Jersey Vindicator links Linda’s analysis of New Jersey’s declining immunization rates to the latest measles data and the State Health Commissioner’s call for families to review their vaccination records.

Invest Rural NJ is recruiting health care professionals to improve access to care in rural communities across New Jersey. Eligible physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and other clinicians can receive financial incentives for committing to at least five years of service in rural New Jersey.

The program is open to both new and current clinicians at eligible rural sites, with incentives that vary by profession and employment status.

Led by the Center for Health Equity and Wellbeing: A NJ Public Health Institute in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Health, Invest Rural NJ also connects participating clinicians with virtual learning collaboratives, evidence-based tools, and quality improvement support through the Quality Institute.

New Jersey’s new integrated facility licensing regulations create important changes—and new opportunities—for organizations delivering primary care, behavioral health, and substance use disorder services.

Join us for a practical overview of the new regulatory framework and what clinicians, health care organizations, and other stakeholders need to know as they prepare for implementation. The session will cover how the regulations streamline licensure and support integrated care delivery, as well as opportunities for telehealth, mobile and alternative care sites, and shared clinical leadership.

We’ll also discuss the implementation process, including transitional licensure requirements, the relationship between New Jersey Department of Health licensing and Department of Human Services program and payment requirements, and key operational considerations for providers.

The Essential Jobs, Essential Care NJ Coalition (EJEC NJ) is looking for Certified Home Health Aides (HHAs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in New Jersey to share their experiences as direct care workers. Ten paid interview slots remain. Participants will take part in a one-hour Zoom interview and receive a $100 e-gift card for their time.

These interviews will help inform the coalition’s work to improve the quality of direct care jobs in New Jersey. Interviews are not anonymous, and quotes may be used in EJEC NJ’s advocacy work, including conversations with policymakers about the realities of direct care work.
