BEESON – Delvie Carl Peyton Sr., 76, of Beeson, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 30, 2026. Born March 22, 1950, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Maynard Peyton and Dorothy Delilah Vaught Peyton.

Delvie was a native of southern West Virginia, where he spent much of his early life and worked in the coal mines before relocating to Richmond, Virginia. Throughout his working years, he held various positions, including truck driving and maintenance work with the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA). Known for his strong work ethic and remarkable ability to fix just about anything, Delvie was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. Whether through his work or the countless side jobs he took on, he was never one to shy away from hard work. He eventually returned to his roots in Beeson, West Virginia, moving back into the very home in which he had grown up.

Delvie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, particularly cooking, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. One of his favorite places was Allen's Pond, where he enjoyed spending time fishing. He also took pride in his garden for many years. When he wasn't outdoors, he could often be found watching his favorite western movies and sitcoms. A natural jokester with a love for telling stories, Delvie enjoyed making others laugh and sharing a good story with anyone willing to listen. PRINCETON – Georgiana Smith, 85, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born September 29, 1941, in Coatsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Vera Martin Henzie.

Georgiana was a former member of the Church of God in Peterstown. She enjoyed watching John Hagy and Charles Stanley on television as she aged. Her last employment was manager of a gas station. She enjoyed cooking and traveling. She was a hard worker and took great joy in helping others. She was known to shop for the elderly and even shovel snow for them in the winter. She was an avid animal lover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Jerry Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Michele Sively of Princeton, and Donna Thomason of McPherson, KS; two sons, Bryan Smith and wife Dee of Gilbertsville, PA, and Kevin Smith and wife Eileen of Pottstown, PA; and six grandchildren, Nicole, Brianna, Sophia, Alexandria, Brittany, and Shannon.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton, with Pastor Gary Raulerson, officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. WV.

PRINCETON – Larry Edward Hartwell, 75, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Born September 7, 1951, in Bluefield, WV, he was the son of the late William Sidney Hartwell and Virginia Ruth Weese Hartwell.

Larry attended Matoaka High School. He retired from English Construction Company. He enjoyed watching westerns on television.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert Hartwell; and sisters, Helen Jones, Shirley Akers, and Mary Gross.

His survivors include three sisters, Janet Bowling of Hiawatha; Linda Pennington and husband Jerry of Matoaka, and Wanda Hatfield of Princeton.

There will be no services at the funeral home.

PRINCETON – Pamela Jean Wellman, 61, of Princeton, passed away after a lengthy illness. Born June 27, 1965, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Gene Shrader and Vickie Lester Shrader.

Pamela loved working with children and was a former employee of the Mercer County Board of Education, where at the time of her passing had worked as a third-grade assistant teacher aide and previously worked as head cook during the 12 years employed by Mercer County Schools. She worked as a CNA during 18 years in the medical field at Princeton Community Hospital and Bluefield Regional Medical Center, after attending Southwest Virginia Community College. She was also a licensed hairdresser in West Virginia and Virginia and a lifelong resident of Mercer County. She loved her work and those she worked with became her family. Pam loved life and fought the good fight with pain and suffering before going home to Heaven. She was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Virginia Casey Shrader; sister, Tina Shrader; brother, Wesley Coolbaugh; and uncle, Freddie Lester.

ROCK – Marvin Thomas Sigmon, 89, of Rock, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Born February 18, 1937, in McComas, he was the son of the late Noah Thomas Sigmon and Sarah White Sigmon.

Marvin attended the Hiawatha Gospel Mission. He served his country in the United States Navy. He then worked in the coal mines where he retired from U.S. Steel. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America. Marvin enjoyed hiking and being outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Naomi Ruth Sigmon; and four sisters, Ellen Farmer, Margaret Maynard, Sylvia Day, and Drucilla Bailey.

Those left to cherish his memory include children, Mark Sigmon of Princeton, Cathy Sigmon of Princeton, and Alan Sigmon and wife Lillian of Barboursville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Helen Delp of Alabama; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Pastor Eddie Day, officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.

PRINCETON - Henry August Schoen, III, 64, of Princeton died Friday, October 9, 2026. Born October 28, 1961, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Henry Schoen, Jr and the late Audrey Shifflett Schoen Owens.

Henry loved animals. He also enjoyed watching football and his favorite team was the New England Patriots.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessicalynn Schoen; and two sisters, Rosemarie Beahm, and Michelle Schoen.

His survivors include his wife of 43 years, Amber Harris Schoen; one son, Henry Schoen IV of Princeton; grandson, Shayne Stalnaker of Princeton, and one great-grandson, Dallas Stalnaker of Princeton.

There will be no services at the funeral home.

PRINCETON – Dixie Lee “Dickie” Whitten, 78, of Princeton, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Born September 1, 1948, in Sylvester, WV, she was the daughter of the late Rex Webb and Juanita Massey Webb.

Dixie attended Sherman High School through the eleventh grade and graduated from Princeton High School in 1966. She formerly attended First Baptist Church of Princeton. She was employed by Princeton Community Hospital for many years in the business office and was later employed by Kroger in Princeton. Dixie was an excellent seamstress and would make the uniforms for her daughter’s cheerleading teams. She loved her family very much and took great care of them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Todd Whitten, who passed away August 18, 2022; life companion of 29 years, Gary Rose; grandmother, Bertha Massey; grandfather, Sidney Massey; sister, Alice Webb; and extended family, Wil and Betty Hagenrater.

Her survivors include her daughter, Krista Toutant and husband Jim; grandchildren, Mitchell Hagenrater, Jenna Toutant, Josh Toutant, Griffin Gooding, and Piper Gooding; extended family, Amy Hagenrater, and Sam and Janet Jennings; dearest friend and cousin, Mischa “Missy
Reveal; dear and long-time friend, Virginia “Ginny” Hampton; and fur babies, Rosie and Boone.

ROCK – Gary Harrison, 87, of Rock, died Sunday, October 4, 2026. Born December 8, 1938, in Affinity, he was the son of the late Steve Harrison and Edra Wills Harrison.

Mr. Harrison was a 1957 graduate of Sophia High School and received an associate degree from Beckley College. He served eight years in the US Air Force and served in Vietnam. He worked for the Department of Defense, retiring in Hyattsville, Maryland. He relocated to West Virginia, where he worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was an avid WVU football fan and enjoyed NASCAR. He was a friend to many and helped people in any way he could. In his last act of kindness, Mr. Harrison was an organ donor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Steven Harrison; and two sisters, Janice Bednash and Jean Taylor.

Survivors include the love of his life, and wife of 46 years, Loretta Blevins Harrison; two children, Andrea Yvette Harrison of the home and David Michael Harrison and wife Teresa of Parkersburg; one brother, Larry Harrison and wife Barbara of Delaware; special niece, Lisa Ellison; five grandchildren, Harleigh Harrison, Avalee Harrison, Ryland Harrison, Jason Flint and Jeremy Flint; and several nieces and nephews.
