This is one of those things that doesn’t get talked about enough, but it makes a huge difference.
Most people assume that a food sensitivity test is the ultimate answer- that it will tell them exactly what foods to avoid forever.
But the truth is, food sensitivities (mediated by IgA or IgG antibodies) are not the same as food allergies (mediated by IgE antibodies ), and they are often not a life sentence.
Unlike food allergies, food sensitivities can often improve once the underlying gut issues (poor gut barrier function, SIBO, inadequate digestive function, or general dysbiosis) are addressed.
Most people are so focused on cutting out “problem” foods that they completely overlook addressing what’s driving the food sensitivities in the first place.
And that’s why they stay stuck, still experiencing bloating, discomfort, or constipation even after these foods are removed.
If you need to rely on a diet that removes a ton of foods to experience symptom relief, I hate to break it to ya…but that plan isn’t going to cut it long term.
Once I started focusing on improving the overall quality of my client’s diet paired with appropriate gut testing- rather than obsessively eliminating foods- their symptoms started to shift, WITHOUT strict restrictions or more food anxiety.
The small things add up.
If you’re working toward better gut health and feel like you’re doing everything “right” but still not seeing results, this might be the thing to look at.
