Here is a great article highlighting the importance of salt in your horse’s diet, especially during the warm summer months. There are several ways to supplement salt (salt blocks, salt licks, or adding loose salt directly to feed). 🧂

While horses have a daily requirement for salt intake, that amount increases with warmer temperatures when horses start sweating during a workout. Salt & other minerals are lost when a horse sweats. 💦

Electrolytes are also great to add to your horses regimen after a hard workout. ☀️

Make sure you choose the right type and amount of salt to support your horse’s health—especially during extreme heat.

I'll be honest, I haven't taken much for pictures this last week, hence our sparse posting. It's been a tough week, as you all know. But we are still here, still chugging along. Things are steadily getting - not so much "easier", but less painful.

Thank you to all of you for your condolences, love, and support. To our volunteers that keep this ship rolling and allowing me a break to break down and grieve, you are the real backbone of GRG. My gratitude is endless. 💜

NATIONWIDE RECALL of specific lot numbers of Adequan Injections impacting canine and equine products

Canine injectable:
Lot numbers: 25011 and 3369

Equine injectable:
Lot numbers: 24416 and 25265P

If you have product that matches those lot numbers, please discontinue immediately.

RECALL ALERT: American Regent, Inc. Animal Health is conducting a nationwide recall of two lots (25011 and 3369) of Adequan® Canine Injection (for dogs), 100 mg/mL 5mL multi-dose vials and two lots (24416 and 25265P) of Adequan® i.m. Injection (for horses), 500mg/5 mL single-dose 5mL vials to the consumer level. Want to see your horse as our next patient of the month?

-Must be a current patient of ours
-Must have been seen by an equine vet since JANUARY 1st, 2026 (and we will check 😉)
-Can be an animal other than a horse, as long as it is seen by an equine vet
-Only one horse per person
