The sacredness of watching a woman reach the point where she thinks she cannot go any further… and then witnessing her do it anyway.

This VBAC changed me.

I watched her call on the name of Jesus when her strength was running low. I watched her husband hold her like he wished he could carry part of the labor for her. I watched a mother pray over her daughter. I watched exhaustion, doubt, laughter, surrender, and raw determination all exist in the same room.

She told us so many times she was tired. She cried because of the pain. She wanted to give up.

But every single time labor asked for more of her, she answered.

She trusted her body. She followed her instincts. She leaned in instead of running from the intensity.

And when she finally held her baby with tears and said, “I did it,” I smiled.

The truth is… we already knew she would.

What an honor it is to witness women bring life into the world.

Licensed midwives in Texas are facing increasing scrutiny and targeting at a state level from the very agencies meant to regulate them fairly.

Texas midwives are highly educated and trained professionals who have dedicated their lives to serving women and families with compassionate, individualized care. They spend more time listening, supporting, educating, and building trust than most healthcare models even allow room for.

And when systems begin treating midwifery as something suspicious instead of valuable, it threatens more than a profession. It threatens access, autonomy, and birth choices for women across Texas.

You do not have to personally choose home birth or a midwife to understand why this matters.

I stand with Texas midwives. Today, tomorrow, always. 🤍
