Familiarity will make you waive the necessary vetting needed to evaluate your new relationships with people. If you allow this to happen, you automatically give access to someone you barely know. You give free access just because they are from your old neighborhood, your tribe, clan, childhood school, etc. This creates opportunity to endanger yourself and family. People change over time. Let them work for the access; if found worthy then give it. Do your due diligence regardless of any previous familiarity that exists.
