Operating out of Providence, Rhode Island, with deep roots in Charlotte, North Carolina, he turned Wright's Lounge BBQ into a thriving private membership food circle that controls its own terms, protects its own community, and keeps members coming back for craft they can't find anywhere else. Juneteenth and baseball—

The first Juneteenth celebrations were especially important. Many Black Americans who were enslaved participated in the celebrations and passed on their experiences to the next generation. In Parsons, Kansas in 1895, the Parsons Weekly Blade, told how they celebrated the 30th anniversary of the emancipation by, "indulging in various pleasures," followed by "sumptuous repasts." Then came a series of speeches about the importance of Juneteenth and the experience of slavery still fresh for many African Americans. After the speeches, the celebrations continued with, "an animated game of baseball."

Sometimes clear boundaries are enough to restore balance in a relationship that has slowly grown unhealthy over time. Other times the healthiest decision becomes full distance from someone who keeps refusing to respect the limits you have communicated honestly.

This remains true even when the person causing the harm happens to be family or a longtime friend you once trusted deeply. Toxicity can live inside any relationship, regardless of how close or how lasting that bond appears on the surface.
