NEW MOON TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE IN LEO.
THE DARKENED SUN & THE PERSEID FIRE.
12th AUGUST 2026.
Tomorrow brings one of the most extraordinary celestial alignments of 2026.
A New Moon Total Solar Eclipse takes place at 20° Leo, aligned with the South Node, while Jupiter travels through Leo and Mercury in Leo forms a sextile with Uranus in Gemini.
Then, as darkness falls, the Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak beneath the darkness of the New Moon.
A darkened Sun.
A New Moon.
A karmic eclipse.
And fire crossing the night sky.
🌑 THE RETURN OF THE LEO ECLIPSE.
There is another layer to tomorrow that deserves recognition.
This is not simply a New Moon in Leo.
It is a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo, part of a much larger celestial story reaching across decades.
On 11th August 1999, the world witnessed a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo, its path of totality travelling across Europe and into Asia.
On 21st August 2017, another Total Solar Eclipse in Leo crossed the United States, becoming known as the Great American Eclipse.
And now, on 12th August 2026, the shadow of a Total Solar Eclipse returns to Leo once again.
Different parts of the Earth stand beneath the path of totality each time, but astrologically the eclipse belongs to the collective.
So think back.
Where were you in August 1999?
Where were you in August 2017?
Who were you then?
What was changing within your life?
What began?
What ended?
What did your heart want?
And is anything happening now that carries an echo of either of those chapters?
Do not manufacture a connection simply because the dates align.
But if one exists, pay attention to it.
Eclipses belong to cycles far greater than a single night.
Sometimes we only understand what one eclipse began when another arrives years later and shows us the distance we have travelled.
1999.
2017.
2026.
Three Total Solar Eclipses in Leo.
Three different skies.
Three different versions of you.
And tomorrow, another threshold.
🌑 THE ECLIPSE.
A Solar Eclipse is a New Moon intensified.
Astronomically, the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, obscuring the solar light.
Astrologically, eclipses are thresholds.
They can accelerate what has already been developing beneath the surface, bringing endings, beginnings, revelations and changes of direction whose significance may continue unfolding for months.
And this one happens in Leo.
Leo is ruled by the Sun and governs the heart, sovereignty, courage, love, creativity, visibility, pleasure and self-expression.
Yet during this eclipse, Leo’s own ruler disappears into shadow.
The crown is darkened.
That carries an important question:
Who are you when the old identity, recognition or role is temporarily stripped away?
Because true sovereignty is not simply being seen.
It is knowing who you are when nobody is watching.
This eclipse can expose where we have outgrown an identity, relationship, ambition or version of ourselves that once fitted perfectly.
And beneath it may sit something much more authentic.
A desire.
A calling.
A creative path.
A relationship.
A life you have quietly known you wanted but perhaps stopped believing could exist.
Some wishes disappear because we outgrow them.
Others survive years of change.
Pay attention to the ones that survived.
THE SOUTH NODE.
This eclipse aligns with the South Node, bringing karmic memory and familiar territory into the story.
Old people, patterns, abilities, desires and unfinished matters can resurface.
But the South Node carries an important lesson:
Return does not automatically mean restoration.
Something can return because it belongs with you.
It can also return because you are finally ready to release it.
The difference is discernment.
Years of loving, losing, waiting, creating, rebuilding and becoming wiser change what we are capable of recognising.
You know reciprocity differently after experiencing its absence.
You recognise genuine value when you no longer need to persuade somebody to see yours.
You understand which dreams still carry life and which belonged to somebody you used to be.
That wisdom matters beneath this eclipse.
JUPITER IN LEO.
Jupiter travelling through Leo expands the landscape considerably.
Jupiter magnifies whatever it touches, and in Leo that can mean creativity, confidence, visibility, generosity, love, leadership, abundance and opportunity.
Something you have poured considerable energy into may begin gaining momentum.
Creative work can receive recognition.
Business can expand.
An agreement or introduction can create another opportunity.
Financial movement may give greater freedom.
Love can become more expressive.
Something that previously existed only as a hope may begin acquiring practical form.
But Jupiter’s lesson is not simply more.
It is capacity.
Can you hold the visibility you asked for?
Can you receive without immediately giving everything back?
Can you occupy the space your work has earned?
Can you allow something good to arrive without questioning whether you deserve it?
Sometimes manifestation is not about attracting the opportunity.
It is about becoming capable of receiving it.
MERCURY SEXTILE URANUS.
Mercury in Leo also forms a sextile to Uranus in Gemini tomorrow.
This is where the unexpected enters.
Mercury rules communication and information.
Uranus awakens, disrupts and liberates.
Together they can bring sudden ideas, unexpected conversations, surprising messages and breakthroughs that change how we understand something.
Listen carefully.
Write down ideas that arrive quickly.
Pay attention to the unusual conversation, introduction or piece of information that appears at precisely the right moment.
One sentence can alter an entire perspective.
❤️ LOVE UNDER A LEO ECLIPSE.
Leo rules the heart, so relationships naturally become part of this eclipse.
Genuine connections may deepen through clearer communication, affection, consistency and actual plans.
Feelings that have remained unspoken can become visible through words or actions.
For others, the revelation may be recognising where they have been doing all the emotional work.
Someone from the past may reappear.
A new connection may arrive with immediate familiarity.
An existing relationship may reach a point where its future becomes much clearer.
Do not confuse familiarity with destiny.
Look at what is actually being offered.
The heart becomes wiser when it stops asking only:
Do they want me?
And begins asking:
Does what they bring belong in the life I am building?
🌠 THE PERSEIDS.
And then comes something I find particularly powerful about this eclipse.
Hours later, the Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak.
The Perseids occur as Earth travels through debris left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle. Tiny ancient fragments enter our atmosphere at enormous speed and become streaks of light across the night sky.
This year the shower peaks around the New Moon, giving us beautifully dark skies for viewing.
And symbolically, look at what is happening above us.
The Sun is obscured.
Darkness comes.
Then ancient matter travelling unseen through space meets the Earth’s atmosphere and becomes fire.
Shadow becomes illumination.
The Perseids appear to radiate from the constellation Perseus.
Perseus carries his own ancient mythology of courage, divine assistance, impossible tasks and confronting that which has the power to petrify.
Placed beside a Leo eclipse, the symbolism is powerful.
Leo asks:
What does your heart know?
The eclipse asks:
What must be revealed or relinquished?
Perseus asks:
What are you prepared to do with the answer?
🌑 WORKING WITH THE ECLIPSE.
I do not believe powerful eclipses need to become frantic manifestation exercises.
I would rather witness first.
Tomorrow, pay attention.
To dreams.
Synchronicities.
Conversations.
Sudden endings.
Unexpected openings.
Strong intuitive knowing.
What returns.
What disappears.
And what becomes impossible to ignore.
Then, when darkness falls and the Perseids begin crossing the sky, choose one intention.
The one that survived.
The desire that remained beneath all the other noise.
Take it outside.
Write it down and say:
What belongs to the old path, I release to the shadow.
What belongs to the path ahead, let me recognise when it arrives.
I stand sovereign within my own becoming.
I am ready to meet what is ready to meet me.
Then leave space.
Eclipse work does not always reveal itself immediately.

Tomorrow’s Solar Eclipse begins a story that leads us towards the Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on August 28th.
Leo brings identity, desire, courage, creativity and the heart to the surface.
Pisces later brings surrender, emotional release, intuition and completion.
Watch what develops between them.
What begins as a conversation may become a decision.
An idea may become an opportunity.
Something unresolved may finally receive an answer.
A relationship may reveal where it is going.
A creative or professional path may suddenly move.
And something that once held enormous emotional power may simply stop belonging to you.
By August 28th, we may understand far more clearly what this Leo eclipse actually began.
WHO FEELS IT MOST?
Everyone has Leo somewhere within their natal chart, so everybody has an area of life touched by this eclipse.
Those with significant placements close to 20° Leo may experience it particularly personally.
Aquarius placements near that degree receive the opposition, while Ta**us and Scorpio receive the square, activating the fixed signs strongly.
Aries and Sagittarius may experience the eclipse through a more flowing fire sign relationship.
But do not stop at your Sun sign.
Find 20° Leo in your natal chart.
