True mental wellness isn’t just about changing your thoughts; it’s about regulating the body that holds them.
These 3 micro-exercises are incredible for acute stress, but our new article breaks down the actual neuroscience of somatic therapy, the power of the vagus nerve, and how to safely transition your body out of “fight or flight” mode.

You can’t talk your way out of a physiological response
When stress becomes chronic, it gets trapped in our physical body manifesting as a tight chest, digestive issues, or constant survival mode. This is where Mind-Body (Somatic) therapies come in.

When Moses hit rock bottom — exhausted, overwhelmed, ready to give up everything — God’s first response was not judgment. It was compassion. It was understanding. It was presence. And that same God is with you today.

He is not standing over your pain with a list of your failures. He is sitting with you in it — slow to
anger, abounding in mercy. (Psalm 86:15)

Sometimes healing starts with movement, not pressure.
Walking, yoga, and swimming are some of the best exercises for anxiety because they help calm the mind, regulate stress hormones, and activate the parasympathetic nervous system the part of your body responsible for rest, peace, and recovery.

Take a deep breath, move gently, and give your mind permission to slow down.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Your gut and your brain are in constant conversation and what you eat matters more than you think. 90% of serotonin (your “feel-good” neurotransmitter) is produced in the gut. That means the food on your plate has a direct line to your mood, focus, and emotional resilience. Swipe through to learn which foods support your mental health — and which ones quietly work against it.

💬 We’d love to know: which of these do you already include in your routine? Drop it in the comments! At Streams of hope we take a holistic approach to mental wellness — body and mind together.
