Happy Friday everyone, we hope you had a great week and are planning exciting things for the weekend. Our week here at Heartland Suites Assisted Living was filled with crafts and crocheting, time in the beautiful outdoor space, and playing Spinner Dominoes with the team!

We also had many wonderful visitors and family join us✨

For our Midweek FAQ, we’re talking about Alzheimer’s vs. Dementia.

People use ‘Alzheimer’s’ and ‘dementia’ interchangeably all the time — and it makes sense why. But understanding the difference can change everything for a family trying to find answers.

🧠 Dementia is not a disease. It’s a term for a set of symptoms: memory loss, confusion, difficulty with language, changes in behavior, all caused by damage to the brain.

🔵 Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia, responsible for 60–80% of cases. It’s a progressive, degenerative brain disease with no cure. However, early detection can make a meaningful difference in quality of life.

Other causes of dementia include Lewy body dementia, vascular dementia, and frontotemporal dementia — each with different symptoms, progression, and care needs.

This month, we’re not just raising awareness. We’re raising understanding. Because the families walking this road deserve both. 💜
