ANVIL Bodyworks provides precision bodywork for people who carry a lot — physically, mentally, and emotionally — helping them feel safe, reset, and reconnected to themselves. Chris Altrogge
Owner - ANVIL Bodyworks LLC
LMT, MPS, ISSA Elite Trainer & Transformation Coach

Welcome to ANVIL Bodyworks, where we share in your transformative journey to health and wellness. From a passion cultivated since

childhood, Chris has evolved into a Licensed Massage Therapist/Bodyworker, specializing in breath and bodywork for both physical and mental well-being. His personal journey, from embracing a misguided approach to self-care to a life-changing realization in 2017, forms the foundation of his mission and sparked a commitment to share the power of self-care with others. With a background in martial arts, including 20+ years as a defensive tactics instructor, Chris draws parallels between the precision of a samurai sword and the need for individuals to be sharp and strong. As a Massage Therapist/Bodyworker, Chris employs therapeutic, spa, athletic, and deep tissue modalities, along with acupressure techniques, to eliminate waste, reduce stress, and enhance flexibility. At ANVIL Bodyworks, Chris's philosophy centers on each client being a 'precision instrument' requiring professional 'tuning.' A commitment to providing productive sessions with included tools, such as aromatherapeutic essential oils, hot packs, hot stones, cupping, and the Dolphin MPS, defines the ANVIL experience. Chris encourages clients to adopt a ‘healthy self-interest’ and to expect ‘more’ from their massage, emphasizing that recuperation and rejuvenation are necessities, not luxuries. Chris is dedicated to helping individuals minimize unseen stress, take time to breathe, and stay sharp. At ANVIL Bodyworks, the mission is clear—apply exacting pressure through bodywork to remove impurities and help clients get back to 'doing what they do,' taking care of those who depend on them. Self-care is not just a concept; it's a commitment to equipping individuals to take care of themselves so they can better care for others. Expect more, experience more, and embark on a journey of wellness with Chris at ANVIL Bodyworks. Additionally, Chris is a certified ISSA Elite Trainer and has been active in the health and wellness space for over 25 years. An Army Veteran, former Supervisor with the Colorado Department of Corrections, and DoD contractor; Chris continually strives to strike harmony between the week and the weekend enjoying motorcycling, hiking, fishing, reading, and photography.

When the body feels safer, the mind often becomes clearer.

When movement improves, daily tasks require less effort.

When tension decreases, recovery becomes easier.

When recovery improves, life feels more manageable.

Many people wait until they are completely overwhelmed before seeking help.

My encouragement this summer is simple:

Don't wait until your body demands your attention.

Maintain it before it becomes a problem.

Whether you're preparing for summer travel, keeping up with active kids, training for an event, working long hours, or simply trying to stay ahead of life's demands, regular bodywork can help support the health and resilience you need to continue showing up for what matters most.

Most people think of caregiving as an emotional responsibility.

What often goes unnoticed is how much physical and mental effort it requires.

Caregivers are constantly managing three different loads at once.

Physical Load
Mental Load
Emotional Load

While aging certainly changes the body, stiffness is not always a normal consequence of getting older.

More often, stiffness is a sign that your body is asking for attention.

At ANVIL Bodyworks, I regularly work with clients who assume discomfort is simply part of aging. What they often discover is that many of the limitations they experience are actually related to mobility restrictions, accumulated tension, poor recovery, repetitive movement patterns, and stress.

The good news?

Many of these issues can improve.

At ANVIL Bodyworks, many clients initially seek help for physical discomfort. Tight shoulders. Low back pain. Restricted hips. Headaches. Chronic tension.

What they often discover is that the relief they experience goes far beyond the muscles.

They leave feeling clearer.

Calmer.

More grounded.

More present.

That's not an accident.

It's the nervous system at work.

For many adults, summer arrives with a sense of excitement and possibility.

The weather improves. The days get longer. Vacations are planned. Kids finish school. Outdoor activities increase. Families spend more time together. Community events fill the calendar. Life feels more alive.

Yet for many people, summer is not the relaxing season they imagined.

Instead, it often becomes one of the busiest times of the year.

Deep tissue is often misunderstood.

A lot of people think deeper work simply means more pressure, more force, or more pain.

Real therapeutic bodywork is not about overpowering the body.

Pressure should be customized.

Depth is earned.

The nervous system should be worked with, not fought with.

Sometimes the body needs firm, focused pressure.
Sometimes it needs slower work, better breath, better timing, and a therapist who knows when to listen instead of push.

The real value of bodywork is not whether it hurts.

The real value is whether the work creates change.

Less guarding.
Better movement.
Deeper, intentional breathing.
Less pain.
More awareness.
A nervous system that finally starts to stand down.

At ANVIL Bodyworks, deep work is never about punishment.

It is about working with intention.

Forged Reflection

Bodywork is not just about getting rid of tension.

It is about rhythm, breath, flow, and trust.

The best sessions feel seamless - not mechanical.

Each movement connects to the next. Each transition gives the body time to follow.

When the work is precise, present, and intentional, release feels less like force and more like a dance.

Artistic rather than mundane.

Expect More from your Massage.

Stay Sharp. Get Forged.
