We're so moved to share this with you. In the wake of the Aspen Acres Fire, we know so many throughout our mountain communities have been carrying stress, uncertainty, disruption, and exhaustion, and even now that the immediate danger has passed, the nervous system and body can keep responding as though they're still under threat. Tension, disrupted sleep, irritability, anxiety, a heightened sense of alertness, these are all natural responses to something frightening and overwhelming, and they simply take time to settle.
That's why we're so grateful to announce two free sound baths for our mountain community, happening Sunday, September 20th at 11:30am and 12:30pm.
This gathering is happening because of one person's generosity. Cheryl Wegelin, LCSW, of Rooted in Resilience recognized the need for this kind of support, reached out to make it possible, and is opening her space in Rye to host our community. We are deeply grateful for Cheryl's vision, care, and generosity, this is happening because of her.
Through gentle sound and vibration, these sessions offer the nervous system a chance to slow down and help the body begin returning to a greater sense of balance. If you've never attended a sound bath before, there's nothing to prepare. You'll simply lie down or sit comfortably while the soothing sounds of singing bowls and other instruments fill the space around you. No meditation, no concentration, no trying to make anything happen, just permission to rest. And in case you're wondering, a sound bath doesn't involve water.
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring water. You're also welcome to bring a yoga mat, pillow, blanket, bolster, or eye covering, anything that helps you feel more supported. Chairs will be available for anyone who'd prefer to remain seated.
Each session is limited to about ten people, so we ask that you reserve your spot in advance. No prior experience is needed, simply come as you are and allow yourself to be held by sound, rest, and community.
