Our Surgical Services team at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital is proving that creativity and compassion go hand-in-hand. The team recently launched the “Kindness Kit” project by repurposing 300 pieces of clean, unused surgical wrap. They created 250 sturdy bags filled with winter gear, hygiene essentials, water and healthy snacks. These kits are headed to help our neighbors at the local soup kitchen and Posada. The project kept 150 pounds of waste from the landfill!

We're so proud of this team for thinking outside the wrap to extend our healing mission beyond the hospital walls. This is in action!

At the end of June, we had a blast at the Steel City Arkansas River Festival (SCARF) at Waterworks Park in Pueblo. Here's a look at some moments from the event, including the Life Jacket presentation and a reminder of how the donation of 150 life jackets will keep our community safe. With the new life jackets in the free Loaner Program, it's easier than ever to stay safe while you splash. If you're spending time near water in the coming months, grab a life jacket. Have a fun and safe time!

Food insecurity is a reality for many members of the communities we serve. At CommonSpirit, our Fresh to Flourish program positions healthy food as an essential part of patient care.

A recent study of the program, published in the Journal of Primary Care & Community Health, revealed that integrating fresh produce prescriptions into everyday healthcare practices brings hope to patients striving for better health. Even more inspiring is the positive effect on provider fulfillment—knowing they can address one of the root causes of so many health concerns.

Learn more about the study and see how “Food in Medicine” is making a real impact.

At CommonSpirit Health, a commitment to healing body, mind, and spirit drives us to find innovative ways to care for those we serve, especially the vulnerable

The brought so many different challenges to Pueblo, but it also showed the incredible strength and compassion of our community. During a difficult time, St. Mary-Corwin Hospital became a hub of support for those on the front lines! Seeing a critical need, we established a 'base camp' within the hospital, providing a much-needed resting place for first responders and aid groups like Team Rubicon.

We set up 60 cots, creating a space for rest and refreshment after long, physically demanding days. Our healing mission extends beyond patient beds – it's about recognizing the needs in a crisis and responding with immediate, practical support.

To every team member, clinician, volunteer, first responder, public health professional, and community partner who stood beside us throughout this response, thank you! As recovery continues, our commitment to Beulah and the surrounding areas remains strong. Let's continue to support each other and uphold the spirit of generosity that defines Pueblo.

It’s also a reminder that equitable access to health care, resources, and support remains deeply connected to the well-being of communities. We honor the enduring spirit of freedom, advocacy, and resilience that continues to inspire progress toward a healthier future for all.

We joined our neighbors for Safety Jam at Lake Minnequa Veterans Memorial Park. This is always such a great event and a fun way to educate our community about our trauma services and safety resources. We handed out helmets to kids, ensuring they have a fun summer on bikes, scooters, and skateboards. St. Mary-Corwin has been keeping the community safe for more than 140 years - it's our jam!
