📣 **JUST 2 AFTER-SCHOOL THERAPY SPOTS LEFT FOR FALL!** 📣

Did you know I offer a **limited number of after-school therapy appointments** for school-aged children who may need a little extra support?

My after-school schedule for this fall is filling up quickly, and I currently have **just TWO openings remaining!**

Depending on your child’s needs, therapy may address:

👄 **Speech sound development** — helping children produce sounds more clearly and confidently

🗣️ **Phonological delays/disorders** — addressing patterns of sound errors that can make speech difficult to understand

💬 **Language development** — building vocabulary, sentence formulation, comprehension, organization, and communication skills

👅 **Myofunctional therapy** — addressing oral rest posture, tongue function, breathing patterns, swallowing, and other oral-motor patterns

📚 **Foundational literacy skills through a speech-language lens** — supporting phonological awareness, sound sequencing, sound-letter connections, and other early skills that can impact reading and spelling development

One of the things I love about working with school-aged kids is looking beyond just **“Can they say the sound?”** and considering how speech, language, oral function, and early literacy skills can overlap and affect one another.

If your child has been struggling with speech clarity, language skills, sound awareness, early reading/spelling foundations, or oral function, this may be a great time to reach out.

🍎 **Only 2 after-school openings remain for Fall 2026!**

📩 Send me a message to learn more about services or to see if one of these openings might be a good fit for your child.

👄 I want to Mouth Off about what matters to YOU!

Infant feeding challenges? Tongue or lip ties? Pacifier habits? Mouth breathing? Picky eating? Tongue posture? Myofunctional therapy?

There are so many questions surrounding oral function—and sometimes it’s hard to know what’s normal, what deserves a closer look, and where to begin.

That’s why I created Mouth Off: short, down-to-earth videos that make complicated topics easier to understand and help you recognize what the mouth may be trying to tell us.

Now it’s your turn! What question, concern, or “Is this normal?” moment would you like me to address in an upcoming episode?

👇 Drop your topic in the comments, or send me a private message if you’d rather ask anonymously.

No question is too small—and yours may be the same question another parent has been afraid to ask!

Earlier this week I cast my vote because local elections matter.

A few years ago, I took a leap of faith and invested in myself, my education, and this community by opening a small, woman-owned business right here in Giles County.

My vision was simple.

Bring highly specialized services closer to home so families wouldn’t need to drive an hour or more to piece together care from multiple providers.

I wanted new parents, children, and adults in our community to have access to comprehensive, evidence-based care right here in Pulaski. As my practice has grown, I’ve continued to invest in advanced training so I can offer even more services to meet the needs of the families who trust me with their care.

Owning a small business has shown me just how much local government decisions matter. The choices made at that level directly affect whether small businesses can simply survive or truly thrive.

That’s why I vote.

Not because I expect everyone to agree with me, but because every voice deserves to be heard, and every community deserves leaders who care.

If you’re eligible, I hope you’ll make a plan to vote early. Your voice matters, and our community is stronger when we all participate.

“My Baby Clicks While Eating…
Should I Be Concerned?”

Your baby is clicking during feeds…

But what does that actually mean? 🤔

Clicking isn’t a diagnosis—and it doesn’t automatically mean your baby has a tongue tie.

It often tells us that your baby is losing suction during feeding, but there are several possible reasons why that’s happening.

In today’s Mouth Off, I’m breaking down what that little clicking sound may be trying to tell us and why evaluating function is more important than jumping straight to conclusions.

Have you ever noticed your baby clicking while feeding? Let me know in the comments! 👇

👅 Where is your tongue resting right now?

If your answer isn’t “lightly suctioned to the roof of my mouth,” you’re not alone—but that resting position matters more than most people realize.

In today’s Mouth Off episode, I’m sharing my Top 5 Reasons Your Tongue Should Live on the Roof of Your Mouth and why proper tongue posture plays such an important role in breathing, swallowing, speech, facial development, and overall oral function.

Sometimes the smallest habits can have the biggest impact.

Watch the video, then let me know…did you catch yourself checking where your tongue was while reading this? 😄👇

🎉 Matters of the Mouth Speech Therapy is officially 3 years old! 🎉

Three years ago, I took a leap of faith and opened the doors to a practice that looked a little different.

I dreamed of creating a place where families could find answers, support, and specialized care without having to travel hours away. A place where the whole person is seen, where feeding, oral function, airway, myofunctional therapy, craniosacral fascial therapy, and speech all come together to make a lasting difference.

Three years later… I’m humbled and overwhelmed with gratitude.

💙 Thank you to every family who has trusted me with your babies, children, your own airway journey and your stories.

💙 Thank you to the physicians, lactation consultants, dentists, therapists, and community partners who continue to support and collaborate with me.

💙 Thank you to my community for every referral, every kind review, every encouraging word, and every family you’ve sent my way.

Watching little ones learn to feed comfortably and effectively, moms feel more empowered and confident during a very stressful season of life, children and adults speak more clearly, and breathe & sleep better has been the greatest privilege of my career.

What started as a dream has become a calling, and I truly believe the best is still ahead.

Here’s to three years of changing lives—one mouth at a time. 💗

Thank you for being part of this journey. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds!

With gratitude,
Laura

💎 Pulaski’s Hidden Gem 💎

Tucked away inside the P4 Physical Therapy office at 1119 E. College St., Suite 3, Pulaski, TN, you’ll find a practice that many local families don’t even realize exists.

I jokingly (and humbly) refer to myself as Pulaski’s hidden gem because the specialized services I provide are often only found in much larger cities. Many families would typically need to travel an hour or more to access this level of care, yet it’s available right here in our small town.

What’s even more surprising is that families regularly travel from 1–2 hours away to work with me. One of the comments I hear most often is:

“How is someone with your level of training and expertise located in Pulaski when we can’t even find these services in our town?”

The truth is, I love serving families in our community while also helping those who are searching for answers, specialized support, and a more individualized approach to care.

If you’ve ever wondered what services I offer or whether I might be able to help your child or family, I’d love to connect.

Want more information? Comment 💎 below and I’ll send you the details! ✨

First and foremost, I’m a MOTHER to a child with apraxia and THEN I’m a speech language pathologist. I’m NOT just posting this because it’s about job security and self interest. I’m posting this because parents are vulnerable and are willing to try and or pay ANYTHING to help their child, and sick people prey on this and make literally THOUSANDS of dollars with things that have ZERO scientific research.

Childhood apraxia of speech needs to be treated using the principles of motor learning in speech THERAPY. I know it’s hard. I know we all want a quick fix. There isn’t one. I hate seeing parents getting swindled by snake salesman 🥺

👄 MOUTH OFF: Top 5 Reasons Your Baby Should See Someone Like Me BEFORE a Tongue/Lip Tie Release

A tongue tie release may be the right answer for some babies—but it shouldn’t be the first step for every baby.

Before any procedure, it’s important to understand not just what the tissues look like, but how your baby’s mouth is actually functioning during feeding, sucking, swallowing, and movement.

An oral function and feeding assessment can:

✔️ Determine whether a restriction is truly impacting function
✔️ Establish a baseline before any procedure
✔️ Identify weakness, tension, or coordination issues
✔️ Help prepare baby for the best possible outcome
✔️ Reduce unnecessary procedures

In fact, one study found that nearly 63% of infants referred for frenotomy were not recommended for release after having a comprehensive feeding evaluation and therapy intervention!

The goal isn’t simply to release tissue.

The goal is better feeding, better function, and better outcomes. ❤️

Watch today’s Mouth Off episode to learn more.
