New River Valley Medicine will be closed on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. We wish all of our fellow American workers a happy and *safe* Labor Day holiday.

Part of our commitment to comprehensive primary care is ensuring our patients have access to clinical advice even when our office is closed. To provide safe and ethical healthcare, after-hours help is limited to established Primary Care patients only.

๐Ÿ“ž On-Call Guide for Our Patients (540-267-5774):
๐Ÿ”น Please CALL if: You are an established Primary Care patient with an urgent illness that can't wait until Monday. We can help triage your symptoms and potentially save you a trip to the ER.
๐Ÿ”น Please WAIT if: You have routine business needs (scheduling, billing, non-urgent refills). We will handle these needs on our next business day.
๐Ÿ”น Do not call: If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency (chest pain, difficulty breathing, stroke symptoms), please call 911 immediately. If you are not an established patient: Please visit a local Urgent Care or ER for your immediate needs.
Stay safe, everyone!

๐Ÿฉบ Advanced Primary Care: The Heart of Your Health

At New River Valley Medicine, you are more than just a number.

As an independent, physician-owned practice, we have always believed that great primary care happens both inside and outside the exam room.

Every day, our team spends countless hours:

โœ” Coordinating care with specialists
โœ” Reviewing hospital records after discharge
โœ” Tracking preventive care and wellness needs
โœ” Being available when you need us most
โœ” Communicating with patients and care teams
โœ” Responding to calls, texts, portal messages, emails, and results
โœ” Managing medication refills and safety checks
โœ” Fighting insurance companies for prior authorizations
โœ” Completing medical equipment paperwork

Most of this work has never been reimbursed by Medicare.

That's why we have chosen to participate in Medicare's new "Advanced Primary Care Management" (APCM) Program.

This Medicare program recognizes that excellent primary care doesn't stop when your appointment ends. Instead of only paying for office visits, Medicare now helps support the ongoing care coordination and personalized services that help keep patients healthier.

The best part?

We're not changing how we care for youโ€”we're simply being compensated for the work we've already been doing behind the scenes.

โค๏ธ What this means for you:

โ€ข The same providers you know and trust
โ€ข The same personalized care you've always received
โ€ข Continued focus on prevention and keeping you healthy
โ€ข Better coordination of your healthcare across hospitals, specialists, pharmacies, and insurance companies

Participation is completely voluntary. Medicare simply requires your written consent before we can enroll you.

Most Medicare Advantage and supplemental plans cover any patient responsibility. If you ever receive a bill related to APCM, please contact our office first. Our goal is to work with your insurance and minimize any out-of-pocket expense whenever possible.

Your participation helps support independent primary care practices like ours and allows us to continue providing the personalized, relationship-based care that our patients deserve.

Thank you for trusting New River Valley Medicine with your healthcare. We are honored to care for you and your family. โค๏ธ
