June is Men’s Mental Health Month, and at ARCHway Institute we are committed to breaking the silence that too many men are still carrying alone.
Mental health does not discriminate, but the way it shows up in men often does. Many men are taught to “tough it out,” stay quiet, and push through pain instead of naming it. That silence has real consequences.
Here are a few facts we cannot ignore:
* Men die by su***de nearly 4 times more often than women in the United States
* 1 in 10 men experience depression or anxiety, but many go untreated
* Men are significantly more likely to struggle with substance use disorders, often using drugs or alcohol as a way to cope with untreated trauma or emotional pain
* Overdose deaths continue to impact men at higher rates than women across nearly every age group
Behind every one of these numbers is a father, a son, a brother, a friend.
Substance use and mental health are not separate issues. They are deeply connected. When emotional pain goes unspoken, it often finds another outlet, and too often that outlet becomes substances, isolation, or self-destruction.
Recovery starts with conversation. Healing starts with honesty. And strength is not silence, it is the courage to say “I am not okay” and reach for support anyway.
At ARCHway, we believe men deserve spaces where they can be real, be supported, and be seen without judgment. We also believe recovery is possible, and no one has to do it alone.
This month, we are encouraging men everywhere to speak up, check in on each other, and take their mental health seriously. The strongest thing you can do is stay.
