Twenty-two years,
and lifetimes before,
our souls found each other,
again, once more.
Through mountains of joy
and valleys of grief,
through losing and loving,
through pain and relief.
We’ve built a life
that’s messy and bright,
four incredible children,
and a love that holds tight.
From ballfields and races,
concerts and shows,
college trips, long drives,
and watching them grow.
Dogs, cats,
and chickens roam free,
a home filled with laughter,
chaos, and mystery.
We’ve wandered through forests,
climbed mountains and trails,
explored caves underground,
followed rivers and rails.
We’ve stood by the ocean,
watched sunsets ignite,
chased strange little adventures
and stayed out past light.
Through trials, through healing,
through loss and through change,
we keep finding new paths,
new places, new ways.
And after 22 years,
through everything we’ve been through,
I’d still choose this life...
and I’d still choose you. 💜

From our first spark to now and across all the lifetimes I believe we’ve walked together we have lived a LOT of life in these 22 years.
We’ve experienced some of the deepest heartbreak, including losing a child. We’ve navigated health challenges, loss, change, uncertainty, and plenty of seasons where life didn’t go according to plan. But we’ve also had the incredible privilege of raising three amazing kids (1 in heaven) and watching them become completely their own people, with all the sports, activities, performances, interests, accomplishments, road trips, and everyday chaos that comes along with it.
And somewhere in between all of that, we’ve kept adventuring.
We’ve hiked mountains and forests, explored caves, wandered along rivers, traveled to new places, stood beside oceans, taken ridiculous road trips, tried new things, and kept finding more of this beautiful, strange world to experience together. And of course, we’ve collected quite the furry and feathered family along the way, 5 dogs, 4 cats, and 9 chickens. 🐾🐓
Our life certainly hasn’t been easy or conventional, but it has been full. Full of love, grief, growth, laughter, nature, kids, animals, healing, adventure, and a whole lot of stories.
There’s no one else I’d rather keep walking this weird, beautiful path with.
Thank you for being my partner through all of it, for growing and changing alongside me, for loving our kids, for weathering the hard seasons, and for still being willing to see what adventure we can find next.

Here’s to 22 years in this lifetime, who knows how many before it, and whatever mountains, oceans, forests, caves, ballfields, road trips, and completely unexpected adventures are still waiting for us. 💜🌄🌊🌲

House of the Mystical Maven is a practice in Integrative Healing Arts blending ancient modalities as modern medicine. This spiritual business houses spiritually transformative art, energetic healing, gemstones and minerals, and small batch herbal care from the Wild woods of Pennsylvania. With over 20 years of exploration and discovery weaving between worlds, each experience is unique, enlightening, and expansive to the present moment.

Shelley Steffey is the owner/creator of House of the Mystical Maven. She returned to Northern Appalachian plateau of what is called Pennsylvania in the Allegheny National Forest after a decade in the spiritual hub of the Appalachian Mountains in Western North Carolina.
Years studying to gain a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art prepared her for translating visionary language to tangible experiences. Simultaneous to a traditional educational setting, she began deepening her connection to ancestral knowledge and practice with a deep dive study of the Science and Art of Herbalism. Before ever studying at university, she fell in love with the embodied practice of dance and yoga which is her primary means of integration and ecstasy to this day. As her mastery of art gained traction, she embraced a community role as teacher, mentor, and guide. It was in becoming mother, she found herself ever more being challenged to expand, discover, and embrace the language of magical, mystical in everyday through the eyes of her daughter. It is her commitment to bring healing in to the world for future generations.
