You’ve likely had a doctor ask you for a recap of your family’s medical history. But what does that information actually mean for you?

For something as potentially serious and life-threatening as breast cancer, knowing your family history can reveal your risk level, if/when to see a doctor and when to begin regular screening.

There’s good news, though: You’re all in this together, meaning no one has to face the anxiety alone. Start by having open and empathetic conversations with your family and take what you learn to your primary care or other healthcare provider.

Sarah d'Hulst, MD, with MultiCare Rockwood Pediatrics, told KHQ Local News that school nurses across the region are seeing an increase of students who felt sick after replacing breakfast with an energy drink.

Dr. d'Hulst said children younger than 12 should not consume energy drinks. For teens ages 12 to 18, she recommends limiting caffeine intake to no more than 100 milligrams per day and avoiding energy drinks altogether due to their high sugar content and other additives.

Small essentials can make a big difference for families in our communities.

Through a system-wide diaper drive, MultiCare employees came together to donate 24,291 diapers and 491 packs of wipes to community organizations across Washington, helping provide essential supplies to families who need them.

With support from Kimberly-Clark (Huggies), these donations will help keep babies clean, dry and comfortable while easing some of the financial stress families face.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make a difference for families across our communities.
