Meet Lilie Hands, one of our residents! We met with one of Lilie’s daughters, Geraldine Stormshak, to discover more about Lilie. Here at Fieldstone Memory Care Puyallup, Lilie enjoys planting in the garden, a hobby she enjoyed throughout her life.
“My mom was an avid gardener. She had the front yard, dad had the backyard.” Lilie grew flowers while her husband Joe grew fruits and vegetables. Geraldine fondly remembers her mom eating from one end to the other! She was also crafty, enjoying painting portraits, knitting, and crocheting.
Lilie is the mother of three (two girls and a boy) and Geraldine describes her as endlessly patient. While Joe worked at Boeing, she held down the home front, and summers meant backyard campouts with homemade pizza and popcorn. She taught many of the neighborhood kids how to ride a bike.
"She was a good homemaker, dedicated to family, and got us a good education. Very patient!" Geraldine remarked. But even with her endless patience, you don’t want to test it. "When she got mad at you, watch out! She remembered for a long time."
Lilie moved to Fieldstone in December 2025 after Geraldine noticed her mom was no longer safe on her own in Browns Point. As an RN living in Puyallup, the distance made it difficult to respond quickly in an emergency, so Geraldine set out to find somewhere close by.
Since moving to Fieldstone, Geraldine says Lilie has thrived. She shares that her mom is eating a balanced diet, staying active in physical therapy, and still enjoying daily walks that she’s always cherished. Geraldine credits Lilie’s energy to Activities Director Jody Molesh for keeping her mom engaged in arts and crafts, games, and Bingo. "My mom loves it there!" she shared.
Geraldine also speaks highly of the care team and appreciates their regular communication. "I've got eyes on her all the time, and that was so comforting to me. They treat my mom with respect. They treat all with respect."
For families considering Fieldstone, Geraldine's message is simple: "It has been the best thing we’ve done. She’s safe. It’s a decision I would make again!”
