We loaded up six residents and took them to the Schuyler County Nutrition site in Lancaster for lunch today. Today was fried chicken day. They served mashed potatoes and gravy, hot roll, carrots and a cherry crisp! Yum Yum! It was nice getting out and every one enjoyed themselves!

Thank you to Kelli Harris for providing a STEM program to some of our residents on Friday, August 7, 2026. She made plastics from milk with the residents. They had a very good time. I was out that day, so we did not get any photos. Thank you Kelly and hope you can come again!

We had a birthday party for the month of July on Thursday. Ms. Roberta was our only resident who had one in July. She and several others came down for homemade cupcakes and ice cream! We had about 18 play bingo after that!

We had a new scarf chair exercise attendee on Thursday, so glad to have Ms. Roberta and her hubby, Rod, join in. We always have fun with the music and scarfs!

We had Moots Karaoke come and entertain today, Friday! They do such a great job and go to about 16 facilities! Ms. Lena and Ms. Anns' niece both sang Patsy Kline songs and did great! Ms. Rose sang two songs and Ms. Rose and Ms. Chelle sang a duet too. We had wonderful crowd participation. A great way to end our week!

Have a safe and happy weekend from the staff and residents at the Schuyler County Nursing Home!

We, at the Schuyler County Nursing Home, had our bingo store open today! Another big hit! We keep getting a larger variety of items and also incorporated left overs from "Christmas In July" from the Greentop Community Church, a tradition started with Mrs. Toadie Lefford, who recently turned 100 years old! Thank you to Lola Western, Vickie Torres, Dorothy Robinson and Rhonda Coy from the church and Ms. Taryn for distributing them to the residents on Tuesday. Some of the ladies baked cupcakes last week also. We had homemade ice cream and listened to a 250th USA Anniversary program in the dining hall before supper yesterday!

Mr. Rudd from Clark County and Ms. Jaci from Putnam County Conservation Departments put on a demonstration "Furs and Trapping" on July 15. They had a wide range of furs and traps and did a fun and interesting presentation. They passed around the furs to be observed. They were very soft and beautiful. Thank you!

The Kirksville Circus was one of the highlights of our 50th Anniversary at the Schuyler County Nursing Home on Sunday, July 12! Thank you to Regina and her talented entourage! Enjoy the photos copyright SOLACE photography. They focused on the circus and not the residents, children, people in attendance due to they not having their permission to take their photos.

A proclamation was presented on July 12, 2026, from Senator Cindy O'Laughlins' office by Lois Pinson, Assistant to the Senator to Ryan Bushnell; President of the Board of Directors at the Schuyler County Nursing Home. Ryan gave a heart felt speech after the presentation. His speech mentioned many names of those instrumental in keeping this facility open for 50 years. We are working to compile all the details of this event and getting more details to add to it to present to the Schuyler County Historical Society. It will be housed at the Hall Museum to commemorate Schuyler County Nursing Homes 50 years of history. Lois Pinson and Rosemary (Miller) Padget have all details of Mr. Bushnells' speech on their personal pages. Watch the Schuyler County Times for more details as well.

Wow...I do not know where to start regarding our 50th Anniversary at the Schuyler County Nursing Home!

Becca Humphrey has already thanked the staff in an earlier post. They all did such a great job and everyone worked together! Thank you.

Thank you to Rhonda Vincent, brothers Darrin and Brian and Mom Carolyn Vincent and the Rage band for performing for us out of the kindness of their hearts and for their hometowns! More photos to come! Rhonda signed every autograph requested and posed for every picture along with her family as well even though they had to be in Nashville, TN. early that next morning.

Thank you to Regina and the Kirksville Circus. They have a wonderful entourage from stilt walkers, clown stilt walkers, a face painter, a violinist, an aerial act, a unicorn and her owner, jugglers and hooping. Their colorful costumes, mostly sewn by Regina and friends in golden colors for our 50th were beautiful! Their warm ambience approach and intermingling with the crowd was fabulous! More photos to come from their photographer!

Ms. Amy Starbuck aka Aunt Amys' Balloon Party created and displayed her first ever 25 foot arch for the entrance coming from the school on the sidewalk display with separate columns with gigantic #50 balloons and many star balloons! She decorated the shelter house with many clusters of balloons with #50 balloons on them as well. She also made balloon animals for the crowd free of charge throughout the event. She made a guitar balloon for Rhonda!

Our logistics volunteers include Terry Morgan who brought his trailer for a stage along with stairs. He brought his side by side along with the following to make many trips to shuttle people from the school to our event and back: Avery and Mary Jones from the Schuyler R-I School, Sarah Crawford, Richard and Patricia Wheeler and Buck McClure. I am sorry if I missed someone. Let me know if I did. Thank you Schuyler R-I Schools for allowing our guests to park in your parking lot. Thank you to Randy Kimble for providing and setting up the sound system and speakers for Rhondas' performance.

Thank you to everyone who brought canopies to help provide more shade.

Thank you to the Schuyler County Ambulance District for bringing their ambulance and crew to stand by. Also the fire departments from Downing, Lancaster, Greentop and Queen City. Wow! Well done! Thank you to the Schuyler Sheriffs Department for coming and helping direct traffic. Thank you for the 50th Anniversary and informational signs by RPM for the event.

Thank you for Shelton Fireworks, Fireworks Land, Robs Fireworks, The Fire Palace and to Mr. Doug Middleton, Volunteer Fireman from Downing and a licensed Firework Pyrotechnic who not only shot off our fireworks, but purchased several more fireworks that evening making our show last well over 30 minutes! Wow!

We had food trucks Taterwagon, Raes Home Cooking and the Ice Cream Truck too.

Thank you to every one who attended and made a donation to possibly help us withstand another 50 years!
