This face pretty much sums up how we’re all feeling about Arizona summer right now. 🐴😒🔥

At this point, we think this horse speaks for every horse, horse owner, vet, tech, and outside worker in Arizona. 😂🔥

It’s hot.
The water coming out of the hose is hot.
The truck is hot.
The tack is hot.
The fence is hot.

And somehow the flies are still living their absolute best lives.

Meanwhile, this guy looks like he has officially had ENOUGH. 🐴😒

Hang in there, Arizona horse people… cooler weather has to show up eventually... right? 🥵🌵

Some days, the sweetest surprises come in muffin form. 🧁🐴💙

A wonderful client brought our Desert Mountain Equine team a basket full of muffins, and it absolutely made our day!

We say it often, but we truly have some of the BEST clients. We’re so grateful for the thoughtful, kind, and supportive people who trust us to care for their horses. Getting to build relationships with our clients and their horses is one of the best parts of what we do, and little surprises like this are such a sweet reminder of how lucky we are to have such an amazing community around us. ❤️

🧡🐍 Rattlesnake season is here in Arizona — don’t let your guard down. 🐍🧡

This is a case we treated last year after a rattlesnake bite.
The swelling became so severe that this horse required an emergency tracheostomy (breathing tube) to survive.

⚠️ These cases can escalate quickly and become life-threatening.

Signs to watch for:

• Sudden, severe swelling (face, muzzle, limbs)
• Pain or agitation
• Difficulty breathing
• Weakness or collapse

🚨 If you suspect a bite — call immediately. Early treatment is critical.

How to reduce risk:

✔️ Keep weeds, brush, and debris cleared
✔️ Check around feeders, water tanks, and barns
✔️ Be cautious in tall grass or desert areas

We had the privilege of being part of an incredible clinic this weekend with Eddie Palacios, put on by R&K Farrier Supplies.

This hands-on workshop offered an in-depth look at the equine lower limb, focusing on practical, real-world anatomy to sharpen diagnostic skills. From guided leg dissections to reading radiographs and even shoeing the cadaver—every piece tied directly back to improving how we care for these horses.

Grateful for opportunities like this to keep learning, growing, and bringing better knowledge back to our clients and their horses.
