🐾 Something fun is coming to Dover Station! 🐾

Kimberli and I will be at The Market at Dover Station on Saturday, September 19th from 10 AM–1 PM, and we would love for you to come see us!

We’re officially releasing The Bubbie’s Kitchen Bougie Pet Line! 🐶🐱 We’ve been working on some really sweet things for our four-legged family members, including natural pet care products and our Pet Charcuterie Treat Bar.

And because we can’t have a party without a little fun, we’ll have giveaways and goodies for pets, families, and your home throughout the day.

But one of the best parts of Saturday is that it’s also Adoption Day with Talbot Humane. ❤️ There will be adoptable pets there looking for families of their own.

We’re proud to support the work Talbot Humane does in our community, and we’d love for you to bring a donation for them when you come. Even if you aren’t ready to adopt, you can still help love on the animals waiting for their forever homes.

When I was a little girl, I loved picking wildflowers.

When we would visit my Aunt Faye in the mountains of East Tennessee, I would gather golden rod and buttercups and tiny wildflowers and make little bouquets. I remember watching the bees move from flower to flower, gathering what they needed before finding their way back home to the hive.

Funny what you remember.

Years later, one of Aunt Faye’s sons became a beekeeper. And here on the Shore, we work with beeswax too, making the hexagon foundation plates that give the bees a place to begin building.

The leftover wax from those foundation plates becomes our little beeswax candles.

It isn’t highly processed, so it keeps that beautiful golden-yellow color. It burns slowly and cleanly for hours.

But sometimes a candle is more than a candle.

Aunt Faye recently went home to be with the Lord. And home feels a little different when someone you love isn’t there anymore.

You realize that going home again doesn’t always mean returning to a place exactly as you remember it. Sometimes home lives in the things that bring you back.

A buttercup. A handful of wildflowers with golden rod. The hum of a bee. The warm glow of beeswax.

And suddenly, I’m that little girl in the mountains again, picking flowers and watching the bees.

Sometimes it’s good to remember where we come from.

And sometimes, God gives us the smallest things to help us remember. 🤍🐝🕯️

There are things people say to you when you are young that you don't fully understand until you've lived enough life to understand the weight of them.

Aunt Granny said this to me often.

But I remember hearing it in 1984, when I was attending Uncle Rob's funeral.

She was filming Rhinestone with Sylvester Stallone at the time. She was busy. Very busy.

But she came home.

She didn't come because she had extra time.

She made the time.

Because you don't forget where you come from.

You don't get so busy building a life, chasing a dream, or forging ahead that you leave your people in the dust behind you.

You take care of your own.

You don't live with a victim mindset. You don't sit around waiting for life to be fair. You get up. You do what needs doing. You love your people. And when they need you, you show up.

In the hard times, you hold to the post.

And when the good times come, you don't let go of it simply because you don't need it quite as desperately anymore.

You keep holding.

That post is your kin.

It's family.

Success doesn't change where you came from. If anything, it should make you even more mindful of the hands, prayers, kitchen tables, front porches, hard lessons, laughter, tears, and people that helped get you there.

I've carried that lesson with me since I was a girl.

Don't forget where you come from.

Hold to the post.

Take care of your own.

And no matter how far God allows you to go, remember the people who knew your name long before the rest of the world ever did.

Rest in peace Aunt Granny and Aunt Faye. It is a hard pill to swallow that you both left for Glory in days of each other. I will always love you both, for who God made you to become in my life and the lives of so many others. Xox, Gigi

They say the future belongs to AI. Maybe.

But every time I hear someone say machines are becoming "as smart as people," I can't help but wonder... Which people?

A machine might process information in milliseconds, but it can't replace the wisdom of a grandmother who knew exactly which tea to brew when your heart was heavy. It can't recreate the peace of sitting on a porch at sunset, hearing the birds, feeling the breeze, and talking with God over a warm cup of tea.

Technology has its place. I'm thankful for many of the ways it helps us. But I also think we've forgotten that some of life's greatest treasures can't be measured by speed, processing power, or algorithms.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is slow down.

Step outside. Watch the sunset. Brew a simple cup of tea. Put the phone down for a little while. Spend a few quiet moments with the Lord. Those gentle rhythms our parents and grandparents lived by weren't signs of a slower world. The reminders of what truly matters.

Peace doesn't usually arrive with more noise. It often comes in the quiet of the day, in the mundane things of the day to day. As a people, we have forgotten how to seek the quiet of the day... a thing we all need to learn so that we can have true balance and begin to hear what the Lord is speakingto our hearts!

I hope, as the world races toward the future, we don't leave behind the simple things that have nourished our hearts for generations.

Some of you have met my beautiful God-sister, Kimberli. You will often here us call her Aunt Sissy. What you may not know is just how much of a blessing she has been behind the scenes over the years. She has poured so much of her heart into helping build our family farm and The Bubbie's Kitchen. Through the long days, the busy seasons, and all the little details that most people never see, she's been there.

If you know Kimberli, you know she absolutely loves tea. One of her all-time favorites is our Blood Orange Vanilla Tea. The best way I can describe it is that it's like an upscale creamsicle in a teacup. It has those bright citrus notes with a smooth, creamy vanilla finish that makes every sip feel like a little treat.

I had to laugh when I saw this at Aldi...
ALDI USA

🧊🧊🧊🧊 Four giant ice cubes for $4.99.

It got me thinking.

Sometimes we believe we need giant faith before God can use us. But Jesus never said we needed faith the size of an ice cube. 🧊 He said faith the size of a mustard seed.🌱

God isn't looking for impressive faith. He's looking for willing hearts that trust Him, even in the smallest things.

So if your faith feels small today, don't be discouraged. Take the next step anyway. God has a way of doing big things with what seems insignificant to us.

Keep your faith, even if it feels mustard seed-sized. That's more than enough for God to get started!

☀️ Our skin is our largest organ, and how we care for it matters.

People often tell me, "You just have good genes." Truthfully, I don't think it's only genetics. I think a lot of it comes down to the choices we make every day.

I grew up watching two very different approaches to skincare.

One of my grandmothers loved the old-fashioned tanning methods of the 60s and 70s. Baby oil, iodine, and hours in the sun. She wanted that deep tan that everyone chased & her skin became leathery and dry. She spent years trying to put moisture back into skin!

My other grandmother cared for her skin differently. She used homemade tallow-based skincare and nourishing oils. Even as she aged, her skin remained soft and beautiful.

That left an impression on me.

Our bodies need sunshine. We need vitamin D. Time outdoors is good for our minds, our sleep, and our overall health. But there is a difference between enjoying the sun and damaging our skin.

I've watched family members deal with spots and lesions that became serious concerns. My grandfather served in the Navy and spent countless hours under the sun. Back then, sunscreen wasn't common. People often used baby oil to tan, and hats didn't offer much protection. He suffered repeated burns on his ears, and eventually skin cancer developed there.

Our family jokes that I "talked Grandpa's ear off" because his ear came off while he was talking with me on the phone. We laugh because sometimes humor helps us carry hard memories. But the truth is, skin cancer is no joke, and his story is a reminder that sun damage can have lasting consequences.

So yes, get outside. Walk the beach. Plant a garden. Sit on the porch & enjoy God's creation. But wear the hat & Seek shade too. Protect your skin.

Scripture reminds us: "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit... Therefore honor God with your bodies." — 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Being a good steward of our health isn't just about what we put inside our bodies. It's also about how we care for the outside. Protecting our skin is one small way we honor the incredible body God has entrusted to us.

Enjoy the sunshine. Get your vitamin D.
But take care of your skin!
