The presence of coliform bacteria can be a warning sign that your well has been exposed to contamination from the environment, sewage, or animal waste.

🎀💕 **CELEBRATING OUR BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS!** 💕🎀

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and here at **Gove County Health Department**, we want to celebrate the incredible strength, courage, and resilience of the breast cancer survivors in our community! 💗

We have **TWO beautiful, handmade breast cancer awareness ribbons crafted from horseshoes** that we'd love to give away to two very special survivors! These one-of-a-kind yard decorations are a small way to honor the incredible individuals who have faced breast cancer and remind them just how loved and appreciated they are. 🎀

💕 **HELP US CELEBRATE SOMEONE SPECIAL!**

Do you have a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, or someone else in your life who has survived breast cancer?

🌸 **Tell us their name in the comments and, if you'd like, share what makes them so special to you!** We would love to fill our comments with love, encouragement, and recognition for these amazing individuals.

Living in rural Kansas has so many wonderful benefits, but protecting our private water wells is something we shouldn't overlook!

Did you know that **nitrates can enter well water** from common sources such as:

🌱 Fertilizers
🐄 Animal waste
🏡 Failing septic systems
💧 Leaking sewer lines

High nitrate levels can be especially dangerous for infants, making regular testing an important part of keeping our families safe.

🚧EXCITING NEWS AT GOVE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT! 🎉

Big things are happening! 🏗️ Construction has officially begun on our new addition, and we couldn't be more excited to see this project come to life!

As we work toward making our health department even better for the community we love, we kindly ask everyone to use extra caution when visiting. Please be mindful of construction workers, equipment, and activity near the front of our building. 👷‍♂️💛

📞 Planning a visit? Due to construction near the front of our building, please call ahead if you need to visit the health department. This will allow our staff to make the necessary arrangements and ensure you can safely access the ramp and enter our building.

Early Detection Works (EDW) serves women at average risk who:

💕 Are 40–64 years old for breast cancer screenings
💕 Do not have health insurance
💕 Meet the program’s income guidelines

Not sure if you qualify? You don’t have to figure it out on your own.
