Being a hospice nurse is more than education and training. SO MUCH MORE. You can sit through hours of courses and inservice training, but you cannot teach compassion. It’s what truly sets us apart. I’ve seen how well our nurse’s handle situations where most wouldn’t even know where to start. I’ve seen them make patients laugh. I’ve seen them have hard conversations about what to expect. I’ve seen them give comfort to a grieving family. I’ve seen them give gentle instruction and teaching on an admission. I’ve heard from countless caregivers on how much it meant to have them there or just to know they were just a phone call away. I can say without a doubt we wouldn’t make it one day without them and the world is a better place for having them in it. Happy Nurse’s week to the best of the best! I look forward to celebrating you all week❤️❤️❤️

Change of venue!!! Because of the predicted weather for Friday we will be having Lynn’s retirement party at the We Care Community Center at 500 North Jackson Ave. Quitman. Same time just different location. Help us spread the word and make plans to join us this Friday at 2pm

We were hoping to wait on making this announcement, not wanting to take any of the spotlight off Lynn. However, some have questioned whether we are staying open. So, let’s set the record straight. We are not closing. We have not sold. Lynn is still our owner. As many of you know Lynn was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2024. She has been on medical leave since her diagnosis. She is now CANCER FREE! However, she now has Addison’s Disease as a result of her chemo/immunotherapy and is still learning to manage her new norm. Over the last year and a half, we have had an acting administrator fill her role. Julie Godwin will now be our Administrator in an official capacity. Julie is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Business Administration and has been the Assistant Administrator at Hospice Care Group for the last 21 years. Julie and her husband Corey are lifelong residents of Clarke County and have two children, Abby and Hayden Godwin.

A note from Julie “Lynn started Hospice Care Group with one goal in mind. Not to be the biggest hospice but to be the best. We have strived to do just that. I love that we are a small locally owned company. Our staff are your neighbors living right here, giving us quick response times and personalized care. I look forward to continuing what Lynn started and hope to do it with the same care and compassion.”

Join us next Friday for Lynn’s retirement celebration! Weather permitting we will be at Mary Carter Park, which is next door to the office. We will have refreshments, including cakes from Taylor Made Cakes. Yes she’s making the cake for her own retirement party 🤦🏻‍♀️. She’s retiring but not slowing down. Make plans to join us!!

Like everyone else…we’re watching the weather closely. We used Thursday and Friday to take out extra supplies and fill extra days in med planners just in case. Hopefully we’ll be able to work tomorrow with no issue, but as always we have a nurse available 24/7 and will do our best to take care of our patients no matter what. 🥶
