This morning, Dr. Blackwell had the honor of returning to North Sand Mountain High School as a proud alumnus to speak with students. Each year, the school invites successful alumni back to encourage and inspire the next generation, and we are proud to see Dr. Blackwell giving back to the community that helped shape him. 💙🎓

🎒 DeKalb Primary Care Staff Spotlight: Back-to-School Memories

👤 Name: Dr. Doolittle

🏫 School(s) Attended: Pisgah High School

📚 Favorite School Memory: Too many to choose from. So many good times with the basketball girls, rolling yards, and bonfires.

🍎 Favorite Teacher: I loved most of my teachers for so many reasons, but two do stand out. One was my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Gilbert. She was a wonderful influence with steady and loving character that I needed in a very chaotic time in my young life. God used her, I’m sure, more than she realized that year. Then, there was Mrs. Gorham. She showed each student love and made sure they knew they mattered, no matter what walk of life they came from. She was a wonderful example of how Christ wants us to love others. She was also very good at holding me accountable and she did her best to keep everyone straight, both students and teachers.

✏️ Favorite Subject or School Activity: Probably History, but I always loved all of the club activities and trips.

🎉 Favorite School Tradition, Event, or Moment: I loved pep rally shenanigans and float making, but looking back I appreciate the teachers, students, and parents that would gather at the school at the end of summer and walk and pray over the property the most.

💙 Advice for Students This School Year: Work hard and enjoy every minute you can as this is just the beginning.

📚 Favorite School Memory: All things athletics

🍎 Favorite Teacher: I don’t think I can pick a favorite between Coach Anderson and Coach Hall. Their energy and engagement with the students made it a joy to go to class. Both were devoted to their players and showed compassion on and off the field.

🎉 Favorite School Tradition, Event, or Moment: Homecoming week pep rally and bonfire

💙 Advice for Students This School Year: Give it your all. Sports/Studies/Friendships- they make you who you are and you will look back and be glad you did.

📚 Favorite School Memory: My favorite school memories aren’t just one moment—they’re all the little things that made growing up so special. Walking into school with a brand-new backpack, meeting up with friends before the bell, laughing through lunch, and making memories that seemed ordinary at the time but mean so much now. Looking back, those simple days are the ones I treasure most.

🍎 Favorite Teacher: I always looked forward to Anatomy with Mrs. Johnson because she made learning interesting and fun. I also loved Government and Economics with Mrs. Pendergrass—she challenged us to think about the world beyond the classroom. Both made a lasting impact on my high school experience.

✏️ Favorite Subject or School Activity: Anatomy/Science

🎉 Favorite School Tradition, Event, or Moment: I always loved the excitement that came with school events like spirit week, pep rallies, and field days. There was something special about the whole school coming together, making memories, and feeling like you were part of something bigger than yourself.

💙 Advice for Students This School Year: Take lots of pictures and don’t rush to grow up. The days may feel long sometimes, but the years go by faster than you think. Be kind, work hard, and enjoy the little moments—they’re the ones you’ll look back on with the biggest smile.
