In case you didn’t know…
Dr. Nikolai and I are both products of NC public schools. I was a NC Teaching Fellow and spent 11 years in the classroom teaching high school mathematics. Some of our very best friends and family members are public school teachers. Our children attend public schools. We are proud sponsors of and volunteer with as much as we can.
All that to say…Dr. Nikolai and I respect school choice, we really do. However, I am here to kindly encourage you to truly educate yourself on the state of public education in NC. Get off Facebook. Turn off the local news. Take the time to actually do your research. And while you’re at it, become a volunteer for your local school district and actually step foot inside your local public schools. I am POSITIVE that if you do this, you will see firsthand how public school teachers and school staff show up every single day for their students. I personally believe that NC public school teachers and support staff deserve ALL the things. But at the BARE minimum, they deserve our support and most importantly, our respect!
As the saying goes, your community is only as strong as your public schools! 🍎
