Making Connections in Our Community. Our Education and Outreach Manager, Lisa Hughes, was out at the National Senior Citizens Day Expo at Bill Crisp Senior Center in Fayetteville recently, connecting with over 400 members of the senior community!

Lisa shared information about DANC services, including dementia education, navigation support, support group connections, and our My Music NC program. It was a beautiful day of connection, resources, and celebration. A great opportunity to remind our community that support is here when you need it. We're grateful for Lisa's dedication to bringing DANC into the heart of our community.

Catch Lisa at Guardian Angel Thrift Inc.'s Memory Cafe today at 11:30 a.m. We hope to see you there!

Did you know that August is National Immunization Awareness Month? This month and beyond is a good reminder to check that you and your loved one are both up to date on important vaccines.

Vaccines like the flu shot, shingles vaccine, and pneumonia vaccine can help protect older adults from serious illness. Staying current on your own vaccinations matters too, since caregivers spend so much close time together with the person they support.

A simple conversation with your doctor can make sure nothing is missed. A little prevention now can mean fewer hospital visits and more good days together.

Talk to your healthcare provider about which vaccines are right for you and your family.

Wellness doesn’t have to mean a total overhaul of your routine; it can start with one small, joyful habit.

This week, pick just one:
🔹 Drink an extra glass of water
🔹 Take a short walk
🔹 Write down one thing you’re grateful for

You’re allowed to take care of yourself while you take care of someone else, and every little step counts.
