✨ “I feel like a new person.” ✨
Sometimes, the biggest breakthroughs begin with simply listening.
At Spring Haven Retirement, resident Gerri had been hesitant to accept certain services and was consistently refusing physical therapy, despite concerns with her balance. After a fall and hospitalization, Legacy’s team took the time to meet her where she was - offering patience, compassion, and emotional support.
Through that trusted relationship, Gerri agreed to resume her medications, begin PT, and work with the therapy team to improve her safety and independence.
Mayo Manuel, PT, identified a leg-length difference and helped Gerri obtain a shoe insert, while collaborating with OT to secure a Halo Safety Ring for her bed. Together, these interventions significantly improved her independence with bed mobility.
After just a few days of PT, Gerri shared: “I feel like a new person.” 💙
This is what compassionate, collaborative care looks like—helping residents feel heard, supported, safer, and more independent.
We’re proud to recognize Jessica Sanders, COTA; Shiloh Taylor, SLP; and Mayo Manuel, PT for the meaningful impact they made in Gerri’s journey. 👏
