Recently, ESR President Julia Kunlo and Senior Safety Director Guy Raymond had the opportunity to present on the ROI of Safety at the ABC of Central Florida Safety Champions Conference. Their session focused on helping safety professionals build stronger business cases for safety budgets, prioritize initiatives when resources are limited, and measure results over time to demonstrate value.

The presentation highlighted a simple but important truth: that safety is a profit center. Effective safety programs reduce injuries, lower both direct and indirect costs, improve productivity, and strengthen overall business performance. By identifying the initiatives that deliver the greatest impact and tracking measurable results, organizations can demonstrate how safety contributes to long-term growth and success.

Thank you to ABC Central Florida for hosting another outstanding Safety Champions Conference. With more than 200 construction safety professionals, industry leaders, training opportunities, equipment demonstrations, and educational sessions, the event provided a valuable opportunity to share ideas and continue advancing safety throughout our industry.

As temperatures rise, we encourage every team to stay proactive by:

Last week, the ESR team had the opportunity to attend the Steel Erectors Association of America Convention & Trade Show in Kansas City.

A major highlight of the week was celebrating our own Julia Kunlo, President of Evolution Safety Resources, as a 2026 SteelStrong Women in Construction Legacy Builder Award recipient. We’re incredibly proud of her leadership and impact within the construction safety industry.

We also enjoyed reconnecting with clients, partners, and friends from across the country while sharing ideas and conversations around safety and the future of the steel industry. Between the convention, great BBQ, a baseball game, and exploring Kansas City, it was a great week all around.

Several ESR teammates took on the Spartan 10K in Fayetteville, completing 25 obstacles through mud, water, climbs, and everything in between.

Events like this reflect the kind of culture we’re proud of at ESR: hardworking people who challenge themselves, support each other, and know how to have fun as a team.

Whether it’s on a jobsite, in training, or tackling obstacles together outside of work, we believe strong teams are built through trust, grit, and shared experiences.

As part of Construction Safety Week, we’re participating in the National Safety Stand Down to Prevent Falls, a reminder that preparation and consistency are what keep crews safe.

A Safety Stand Down is an opportunity to pause work and have direct conversations about workplace safety. While many Stand Downs focus on fall hazards and fall prevention, they can also be used to discuss other jobsite risks, protective methods, company safety expectations, and concerns employees may see in the field.

This is a great week to gather your crews, hold a toolbox talk, review common hazards, and reinforce your company’s commitment to safety on every jobsite.

Strong safety cultures are built through communication, awareness, and taking the time to look out for one another.
