Here's what most people don't know about endocrine disruptors.

Some of them — plastics chemicals like BPA, pesticides, certain cosmetic preservatives — are structurally similar enough to estrogen that your body's receptors accept them as the real thing. They dock. They signal. But they don't work the way your own estrogen does.

Hashimoto's. Graves'. Subclinical hypothyroidism. We are seeing all of these conditions in more and more patients — and at younger and younger ages. I've treated a 5-year-old with Hashimoto's. That is not supposed to happen.
