Part 2 of what I’m watching for during labor!

A lot of doula support happens in the little moments—refilling a water bottle, adjusting a peanut ball, checking in with a partner, or noticing tension that can be released.

These things may seem small, but they all contribute to helping you feel supported, comfortable, and confident throughout your birth experience.

Of course, this list isn’t exhaustive. Every labor is different, and every doula brings their own strengths, observations, and style of support.

If you’re a doula, what would you add to this list?

When people think about doulas, they often picture counterpressure, position changes, and words of encouragement.

But there are dozens of little things I’m paying attention to throughout labor that often go unnoticed.

In Part 1, I’m sharing three of the things I’m watching for during labor and how they help me better support you and your birth experience.

Part 2 comes tomorrow!

Which one surprised you the most?

NEW EPISODE IS LIVE!

Why a Pelvic Floor PT Belongs on Your Birth Team

Let’s be honest… most people don’t think about seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist until something feels wrong.

Leaking when you sneeze.
Pelvic pressure.
Pain.
Difficulty returning to exercise.

But what if pelvic floor therapy wasn’t just about fixing problems?

In today’s episode, I sat down with Dr. Lauren from Uplift Pelvic Health & Performance to talk about why pelvic floor PT can be such a valuable part of your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey—even if you aren’t having symptoms.

This episode was one of my favorites to record because it was the perfect mix of education, practical advice, and real conversation. We covered everything from how your pelvic floor actually works to preparing for birth, postpartum recovery, choosing the right pelvic floor therapist, and yes… why you don’t have to p*e your pants just because you’ve had a baby. 😂

Lauren was actually my pelvic floor therapist during my pregnancy with Emmy, so I got to ask all the questions I know parents are wondering about.

✨ What does a pelvic floor PT actually do?
✨ What happens during an appointment?
✨ Is it worth going if nothing feels wrong?
✨ Is it too late to start during pregnancy?
✨ How can pelvic floor PT help prepare you for labor?

And we also ended up talking about motherhood, raising strong daughters, running a business, and why taking care of yourself matters too.

If you’re pregnant, postpartum, trying to conceive, or building your birth team, this episode is for you.

Did you know you don’t have to be p*eing your pants to benefit from pelvic floor physical therapy?

I’m so excited for Monday’s podcast episode because I’m sitting down with Lauren from Uplift Pelvic Health & Performance to talk all things pelvic floor. ()

Lauren was actually my pelvic floor therapist during my pregnancy with Emmy, and she’s one of those providers who completely changes the way you think about pelvic health.

We’re talking about:
✨ what pelvic floor PT actually is
✨ whether everyone should go during pregnancy
✨ what an appointment really looks like
✨ how to choose a pelvic floor therapist
✨ and why you don’t need to wait until something feels “wrong” to be seen

Trust me, this is a conversation I wish every pregnant person could hear.

New episode drops Monday morning!

Hi friends! I am starting a monthly birthworker, pregnant families, really anyone who wants to join, meetup.

I’ve noticed such a divide in the community overall and it feels like we can do better to come together to lean on each other, work together, and lift each other up. All are welcome here.

Whether you’re a Birthworker in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, and anywhere in between, come join me to chat and grow a community of individuals who are all in this work to support, care for, and empower others.

For those who wish to join, I plan to meet at Jubala Coffee (the one downtown Raleigh, not on NCSU campus). There’s indoor and outdoor seating! We may switch up where we meet if this is something that more and more people want to be a part of, but for now, what’s better than my favorite coffee shop ☺️ I hope to see you there!

You’ve probably been told you need an OB… and that’s about it.

But pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are so much more than just medical care—and having the right support around you can completely change your experience.

In today’s episode, we’re talking about your birth team—aka your birth besties 💛

Who you actually need
What each person does
When to start building your team
And how to know if someone is actually the right fit for you

Because you can have all the “right” providers… and still feel unsupported.

And that’s not the goal.

Whether you’re newly pregnant or just trying to figure out your next steps, this episode is going to help you feel more grounded, more confident, and a lot less overwhelmed.
