Besties…. IT’S CERES CHILL!

I got to sit down with Lisa Myers, the founder of Ceres Chill, and have a conversation that ended up being almost an hour and a half because apparently we had A LOT to talk about. 😂

We talked about breastfeeding, postpartum, the realities of pumping, the Ceres Chill products themselves and the “why” behind creating them, and what it looks like to actually make life a little easier for breastfeeding and pumping parents.

But we also went way beyond the products.

We talked about the things that come with feeding a baby that nobody really prepares you for. The mental load. The logistics. The weird, funny, inconvenient parts of breastfeeding. And why having products that are actually designed with real parents in mind can make such a difference.

And honestly, I loved hearing Lisa talk about why Ceres Chill exists in the first place and how her own experiences helped shape what she created.

🎙️ NEW EPISODE!

We just wrapped up the Build Your Birth Team series, so I thought it was time to give you a little peek behind the scenes of what it’s actually like to be the doula.

And specifically… what it’s like to be an on-call doula with three kids.

Because when I tell a client, “I’m on call starting around 38 weeks,” that sounds pretty simple.

But what does that actually look like when I’m also a mom, wife, and business owner?

What happens when I’m at Target?
When I’m in the middle of dinner?
When I’m nursing my baby at 2 AM?
When my husband is working?
When I’m already at another birth?

We’re talking about all of it — the childcare logistics, the mental load, the unpredictability, having a solid backup network, the people behind the scenes who make it possible for me to do this work, and what my kids actually think I do for a living.

And if you’re a doula, stick around until the end because I have a little reminder for you:

Being on call does NOT mean putting your life on pause.

You can still see your friends. Go to appointments. Take your kids places. Have a life. You just have to be prepared to shift gears when that phone rings.

Support looks different from birth to birth, and also from minute to minute within labor. At this point in labor, this mom was in a relaxed state and felt in control. Gentle rolling on the ball in between contractions helped her pelvis open and baby move down, and constant touch and reassurance from her amazing husband kept her calm. During contractions, she loved double hip squeezes to add that counter pressure to that contraction pain.

Little did she know, only a couple hours after this she would hit transition then bring her baby earth-side with only a few pushes.

Not all parts of birth are loud and fast. When you have these slow, calm moments do what you can to preserve it and live in it.

Cannot get over this recent review from the other half of my client I had the honor of supporting. My job as your doula is never to take the role of your partner, husband, wife, anyone. I am there to uplift them and help them know how to step into their role with confidence. I’m thankful that so many partners trust me just as much as their person does and understands why I’m there and how I can help.
