Our residents recently celebrated National Dog Day, and we couldn’t pass up the chance to give some love to our furry friends with a tail-wagging Yappy Hour! We enjoyed refreshing mocktails and adorable canine-inspired cookies while listening to a pup-themed playlist. Of course, the stars of the afternoon were our four-legged buddies, Opal and Charlie, who stopped by for plenty of pets, smiles, and love. It was the perfect way to celebrate the special dogs who bring so much joy to our lives!

Our Camp Waltonwood was a day filled with laughter, excitement, and a little carnival magic!

We had a full house of kids joining us for an afternoon of intergenerational fun, bringing an incredible energy to the community. Our residents and our youngest guests enjoyed reconnecting, playing, laughing, and making memories together, proving that some of the best moments happen when generations come together.

From the carnival-inspired food and over-the-top desserts to the games, prizes, and friendly competition, there was something around every corner to keep our campers entertained. And, of course, the afternoon wouldn't have been complete without an unforgettable magic show.

The smiles, the laughter, the cheers, and the excitement throughout the community made our inaugural Camp Waltonwood a truly special day. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make our community feel a little more like home, and a lot more like summer camp.

This week, Waltonwood Lead Mine residents took a trip to the dazzling lights of Las Vegas.....no plane ticket required!

Our community was transformed into the excitement of the Las Vegas Strip as residents enjoyed interactive Vegas trivia, tested their luck with our custom slot machine game, sipped festive Vegas-inspired mocktails, and indulged in over-the-top gourmet delights. From friendly competition to laughter and sweet treats, every stop along our Waltonwood USA Travel Program is designed to spark memories, encourage connection, and bring new experiences right to our residents.

What happens in Vegas... becomes a wonderful memory at Waltonwood!

We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Davie's Naturals for their generous donation of several bags of their all-natural dog treats to support our Clear the Shelters campaign!

These wholesome treats are made with just one simple ingredient and are sourced from local farmers, making them a healthy and delicious reward for our furry friends waiting to find their forever homes.

Our residents and team are proud to partner with organizations that share our commitment to giving back to pets in need.

There's still time to help! We're continuing to collect donations for our Clear the Shelters campaign. Donations of pet food, treats, toys, blankets, cleaning supplies, and other pet essentials can be dropped off at our concierge desk. Every donation helps provide comfort and care to shelter pets as they wait for their forever families at Saving Grace NC.

Our residents had a wonderful time giving back to some very deserving four-legged friends!

This week, they rolled up their sleeves to make homemade dog treats and tie cozy fleece blankets that will be donated to the animals at Saving Grace NC. Every treat and every blanket was made with love, knowing they'll bring comfort and joy to pets waiting for their forever homes.

We're so proud of our residents for sharing their time, creativity, and compassion with animals in need. Thank you to Saving Grace NC for the incredible work you do for our community's rescue pets. We are honored to support your mission.

Waltonwood Lead Mine would love to introduce you to our favorite Yorkie, Parker!

Parker is the Granddog of Mr. and Mrs. Hughes, lifelong dog lovers who are residents here at Waltonwood Lead Mine. Parker is a frequent visitor who loves quality time with his Grand-paw-rents!

Parker’s visits remind us that our residents’ most cherished moments are those shared with loved ones, especially their four-legged family members!

What a paws-itively perfect day!

Our Waltonwood Lead Mine residents had the best time visiting our friends at Saving Grace NC, where they spent the afternoon exploring the beautiful grounds and, of course, showering some very deserving dogs with lots of love and attention. Seeing the smiles on our residents' faces (and the wagging tails!) reminded us just how special the bond between people and pets can be.

One pup who completely stole our hearts was Gidget, a beautiful 10-year-old hound mix who is still searching for her forever family. At around 50 pounds, Gidget is an adventurous, affectionate girl with a playful spirit. She loves exploring the outdoors, enjoys hiking, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and absolutely loves the water! Whether she's out on the trails or soaking up affection, Gidget is happiest by your side and would thrive with an active family ready for their next adventure together.

Aloha from Waltonwood Lead Mine!

There's nothing better than seeing our residents surrounded by the people they love. Our Memory Care Luau Family Night was filled with delicious food, live music, and meaningful time with loved ones.

Our guests and residents enjoyed a delicious island-inspired feast prepared by our own Chef Rob, featuring favorites like sweet & sticky ribs, beef teriyaki skewers, fried fantail shrimp, and crab rangoon. As everyone dined together, the relaxing sounds of a live ukulele player created the perfect tropical atmosphere.

These special evenings are about more than great food. They are about bringing families together, making memories, and celebrating the joy of community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the night so special. We can't wait for the next one!

There's still time to help make a difference!

Waltonwood Lead Mine is proud to partner with Saving Grace Pet Rescue for our Clear the Shelters campaign, and we're still collecting donations to help local dogs in need.

We are accepting donations through August 15, and every item helps provide comfort and care while these deserving pups wait for their forever homes. Donations can be dropped off at our concierge desk anytime. Some of the most needed items include dog food & treats, toys, blankets & towels, cleaning supplies, leashes & collars.

Together, we can give these amazing dogs a second chance. Thank you for helping us support Saving Grace and the incredible work they do for animals in our community!

Dad Jokes & Root Beer Floats anyone?

Things got pretty “punny” at Waltonwood Lead Mine this week! Residents and members of our leadership team stepped up to the microphone to share their best (or should we say worst!) dad jokes, leaving the crowd laughing, groaning, and asking for more.

After braving the crowd and delivering some truly cheesy punchlines, everyone enjoyed delicious root beer floats prepared by Chef Rob.

Good company, lots of laughs, and a sweet treat made for a great afternoon together. We’re still trying to recover from some of those jokes! Happy Father's Day from all of us at Waltonwood Lead Mine!
