Today’s teens are navigating more than ever before—and sometimes, it can be difficult for parents and caregivers to know what’s typical, what’s concerning, and how to help. 💙

We’re excited to team up with Nutritious Thoughts, LLC and MedPsych Integrated for a virtual conversation focused on the challenges facing teens today and how we can better support their mental and physical well-being.

We’ll be discussing topics including:
✨ Stress & anxiety
✨ Overachieving & perfectionism

✨ Substance use
✨ Eating disorders

Our panel brings together perspectives from psychology, nutrition, and medical care to provide parents and guardians with practical information, insight, and an opportunity to ask questions.

Today is 988 Day 💜

September 8 is a reminder that mental health support is available—and that you never have to face a moment of crisis alone.

If you or someone you love is struggling with thoughts of su***de, experiencing emotional distress, or simply feeling like things have become too overwhelming, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

🫶 Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
🫶 You don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable to reach out.
🫶 Sometimes the most important thing you can do is tell someone, “I’m not okay.”
🫶 If you’re concerned about someone, trust your instincts and check in. Your conversation could make a difference. ***dePrevention ***dePreventionAwareness

The start of a new school year can bring excitement, anticipation, and a fresh sense of possibility-but it can also bring stress and anxiety. For some children and teens, returning to school may mean navigating school anxiety, worries about friendships or academics, or even school refusal. For others, this time of year can feel especially challenging because they're facing a major transition- starting middle school, high school, or college. If your child is struggling at this time, support can make a meaningful difference.

PTSD doesn't always look the way people expect. It can show up as anxiety, irritability, emotional numbness, difficulty trusting others, trouble sleeping, or feeling constantly on edge. Trauma responses frequently mimic other disorders- and can be misdiagnosed as conditions like ADHD, Autism, Depression, and Borderline Personality Disorder. Healing is possible with a trauma- informed therapist. Sara Hudson details Treatment for Trauma at https://rdutherapy.com/blog/f/treatments-for-trauma

“For all you celebrating today: Take a moment to reflect on the meaning of independence. It doesn’t mean freedom to what you want at the cost of others. It does mean that things might get a bit messy while the country figures it all out. Keep voting and speaking up for those who can’t. Kids included.“ ~ Dr Melanie McCabe, Psychologist ❤️🤍💙
