The things patients apologize for the most? We genuinely could not care less. 😂
But poor sleep, not doing your exercises, ignoring symptoms, or forgetting to tell us about important events like a fall? THAT’S what we care about.
We don’t care what you look like. We care about what your brain is doing!

What do your eyes have to do with your autonomic nervous system?

If you experience dizziness, lightheadedness, imbalance, or changes in heart rate or blood pressure, your vestibular system may be part of the bigger picture.
Your vestibular system tells your brain about movement, position, and gravity. These signals also interact with the autonomic nervous system, which helps regulate things like blood pressure and heart rate.

When the brain receives inaccurate or conflicting information about where your body is in space, it can send mixed signals to the autonomic system-potentially contributing to an inappropriate autonomic response.
That’s why certain eye movements can give clinicians clues about how the brain is processing vestibular information and how it may be interacting with the autonomic system.

Ever feel like you’re falling, rocking, or moving when you’re actually standing still?
Your brain relies on visual and movement signals to keep you stable. When those signals don’t match, your brain may interpret the sensation as a threat-even when you’re not actually falling.
That can trigger a very real fear or anxiety response. The feeling may be “false,” but the brain’s response is very real.
