Dr. Gabella is looking to bring on an associate functional neurologist to join our team at Precision Brain Center in the next few weeks!

We’re starting this as a temporary position, with strong potential for it to turn into a permanent full-time role if it’s a good fit on both sides. We’re a growing clinic located in Raleigh, NC and are looking for docs who are passionate about functional neurology and really hands-on with their patients.

If you or someone you know might be interested, we’d love to connect. Feel free to reach out to us whether you’re looking for something temporary or more long-term. 919-704-3955 or email [email protected]

What if your brain thinks you’re moving when you’re actually standing still?
When the brain misinterprets motion, it can create faulty balance responses that leave you feeling unsteady, wobbly, and less stable when walking.

Your brain performs best when multiple systems work together. In this exercise, we combine balance training on a foam pad, precise eye and head positioning, and a word-generation task to activate the vestibular system, visual pathways, and executive function at the same time.

Why does that matter? The same brain networks responsible for balance and eye movements also play a major role in attention, memory, processing speed, and word retrieval.

By targeting these systems simultaneously, we can help improve cognitive performance, mental clarity, and overall brain function.

Dementia affects more than memory. As cognitive function declines, everyday movements like walking, balancing, and using your hands can become increasingly difficult.

When the brain struggles to process thought and movement at the same time, even simple tasks can feel overwhelming.

We often think more stimulation, more productivity, and more “pushing through” is what helps the brain function better. In reality, the brain doesn’t heal or regulate well under constant speed.

When neural activity stays too high for too long, it becomes harder for the brain to efficiently use glucose and oxygen. That imbalance can impact focus, mood, processing speed, and overall cognitive clarity.

Slowing down isn’t about doing less. It’s about giving the brain the conditions it needs to recover, organize, and function more efficiently again. When we reduce overload and improve regulation, we often see improvements in symptoms that once felt unrelated.

Brain health is not just about stimulation. It is also about recovery, rhythm, and balance.
