FlexWise Retainer Wire Retention System
FlexWise™ retention wire is constructed from a specialized medical-grade stainless steel that is resistant to corrosion and fracture when applied correctly. The product is fully compatible with the Ortho FlexTech retainer from Reliance Orthodontics.
Introduction

– Compatible with Ortho FlexTech Retainer

Retention plays a critical role in orthodontic treatment by maintaining tooth alignment following active intervention. The FlexWise™ retention wire is a fixed lingual retainer composed of braided stainless steel, engineered to eliminate the need for manual bending or anatomical customization to fit the lingual surface. This feature significantly reduces chair time by removing the need for impressions and model fabrication.

Manufactured by J&J® Orthodontics (SKU: 437-201/2), the FlexWise™ retention wire is constructed from a specialized medical-grade stainless steel that is resistant to corrosion and fracture when applied correctly. The product is fully compatible with the Ortho FlexTech retainer from Reliance Orthodontics.

How it Works

Corrects the posterior occlusion to an ideal Class I case first by producing a light, uniform force for distal molar movement.
Independently moves each posterior segment, from canine or premolar to molar, as a unit.
Used at the beginning of treatment when there are no competing forces in the mouth allows the distalization of the molars and premolars from 3 to 6 mm range, on average.


Instructions

Two BiteForce distalizing buttons are needed to process the treatment on each side;
Bond the first button onto the maxillary first molar with the hole facing central;
Cut a stainless steel straight wire (thinner than 0.040”) to the appropriate length and insert into the hole of the button on the first molar;
Prepare the second button with adhesive and put the other side of the wire into the button hole;
Bond the second button onto the cuspid;
Bond a buccal tube with hook onto the mandibular first molar;
Use the elastic appliance to connect the second button hook to the buccal tube hook to apply a gentle force.
