One of the best parts of my job here in Orange County is hearing from patients years later.

This patient recently sent me a selfie 3 years after her deep plane facelift, and I love what it represents: not an overdone result, not a dramatic change in who she is — just a naturally refreshed version of herself.

If you’ve ever wondered what nanofat actually is, here’s the honest answer.

When fat is harvested, it isn’t all used the same way. I filter it down further to isolate the smallest, most regenerative cells. The “baby fat cells” separated out from the rest of what’s harvested.

Even technically excellent surgery may be perceived as unsuccessful when expectations do not align with what facelift surgery can realistically achieve.

A facelift can reposition deeper tissues, improve jowls, restore a cleaner jawline, and create a more youthful contour of the face and neck. What it cannot do is stop the aging process, completely change a person’s underlying anatomy, or guarantee absolute symmetry and perfection.

That is why one of the most important parts of facelift surgery happens before the operation even begins: a thoughtful consultation and an honest discussion about goals, anatomy, limitations, and what is realistically achievable.

The goal should not be to look like a different person. It should be to look like a refreshed, more youthful version of yourself—while still looking natural.

When the surgeon’s plan and the patient’s expectations are aligned, satisfaction is much more likely to follow.

Our gorgeous 55 year old patient, two years post op from her deep plane face and neck lift, temporal brow lift, fat grafting, and lip lift.

If you have more pigment in your skin, scarring is probably your biggest fear going into this. It’s a fair one. Deeper skin tones are more prone to dark or raised scars, which is exactly why incision placement and closure technique matter so much. Take a look at how beautifully her incisions healed.

They were placed along the temporal hairline, pre/post-auricular, and into the occipital hairline. At two years, they’re essentially invisible, camouflaged within the hairline and natural creases, with no visible stepping or distortion at the ear. That’s what happens when the muscle layer carries the tension of the lift instead of the skin.
