After culinary school, many years in the restaurant business, and many more in search of the hidden gems everwhere we travel, we have landed here to help bring support to mom & pop joints all over the country.

We have come to really enjoy our visits to the Batesville area w/places like Meme’s Burgery, The Board on 3rd , a couple of places that are no longer w/us unfortunately. Our most recent visit, however, has landed us a rare jewel as we like to think of it ourselves. After many suggestions to try out a few places, we discovered that some of them were either closed for the day or weren't open on the day of our particular visit. There was a suggestion for a bakery, but we didn't think that was what we were really interested in for this trip. So we stopped by just to say "Hi!" to our good friends at Meme’s, and asked them for their opinion. They, without hesitation, pointed out of their food truck window and said one block that way you will find a bakery. "Trust us, you will thank us later." So here is our formal THANK YOU!!!
They pointed me to a bakery started and ran by a former 6th grade dreamer w/a cook book from the school book fair. As a young middle schooler she challenged herself to created a treat, from the recipes in her new book, for her class Christmas party. Back then she may have never dreamed of growing up to one day make some of the most beautiful, creative, and delicious items you can find in Arkansas. Pastry Chef Megan not only enjoys baking. She also enjoys traveling, and this may be one of the most valuable things that you can find in a chef. Traveling and soaking in all different cultures and styles that go into food creations all over the globe is what I would call an Art Enthusiast of the culinary type. Chef Megan has done just that. You can tell by every item you eat here just how much passion and heart goes into every single item she places inside her displays. Many of which come from inspirations she incorporates from things she has learned in all of her travels.
Crumbs Up Bakery was the place we had passed up that others had suggested, but w/this strong suggestion from Meme's we just had to check it out. See we're passing it up because we wanted lunch, not so much sweets. They had some great savory options that quenched our appetite, but this was only a part of this wonderful surprise. This was only the beginning! While we were waiting on them to make our sandwich, we perused the displays filled w/beautiful treats of all varieties. Some common pastries like cupcakes, cake slices, cookies, etc...
Then there were some pretty unique things as well. The cruffins, tarts, strawberry shortcake croissant, etc... Don't forget all the amazing savory items like the variety of grilled cheeses, other sandwiches & salads, as well as some soup options.
The real story isn't even how insanely good every thing tasted, but the creativity behind every single item in the displays. Of course we loved everything, but they were doing things we haven't seen in any local bakeries around the state, and as if each piece was a sculpture perfectly put together and drizzled.
Some of the things that blew me away was the candied pecan cupcake, the mini key lime pies, the Dulce de Leche mini cheesecake, the Cookie Butter Cruffin, oh and the savory Bacon Grilled Cheese.
I could go on and on about this place! Not only was I truly amazed w/every item I tried, but even more w/the service provided by a young lady who waited on me by the name of Christian, and by my conversation w/Chef Megan who is without a doubt making Batesville proud w/this special little bakery.
Crumbs Up Bakery is just another great reason to visit Batesville, and another great place that Batesville should be very very proud to have in their town!
Check them out on Harrison St in Batesville any and every chance you get! This is a business that continues to do things the right way and deserves all the support we can give them! Visit them...often, and remember to treat them well, and tip even better! Their staff is top notch and deserves all the love you can give them. This is also a reminder to love your neighbor also means to support & encourage them in their passion and hard work. We need to keep places like this alive in our communities! They are truly rare jewels.

Please be in prayer for this young man! Very sad story, and he will have some battles ahead that will need a community of prayer.

They killed it! Had a great visit to Lebowski's Brewing Co in the Southern Hills area of Jonesboro, AR.
They had a great crowd, and still plenty of seating. Got a booth directly across from the kitchen which was nice and peaceful. Almost as if we were the only ones there. Had wonderful service from a young lady by the name of Allison. The whole staff was swamped, but she took good care of us despite the crowd. Glasses stayed full, never felt rushed, food all came out in a pretty short bit. She even made some amazing suggestions that helped steer us into ordering some good stuff! Can’t say enough about how well she and the staff were doing while we were there.
We started things off w/the Street Corn Dip. Pretty good option for a few people to share. Tasted good, but I just kept thinking maybe there was something better to pair it w/than tortilla chips. Nothing comes to mind yet, but the dip can overcome the chip choice. Loved it!
The I went w/their 14oz hand cut prime ribeye. Have to say…2 weeks in a row to be surprised by 2 excellent steaks that NO ONE ever said a word to us about. 🤷🏽 Really thought we had better friends. 😜 FYI: Skinny J's Paragould & now Lebowski's.
Steak was cooked absolutely perfect! I’m not as big of a ribeye fan as folks around here seem to be, but I wouldn’t be scared to send someone that way in search of a good steak. Never even thought about using any sauce. That roasted garlic butter on top was all I needed!
✋ to the chef!
What you can barely see in the pic is the mashed potatoes peaking out from under the back corner of the steak. They were fantastic. Now, the green beans, not my style at all. I know this type is very popular and has been for a few years now, but it has never been how I like them. This isn’t on them at all, but just my preference. I’m sure you can run w/a different side if you don’t like mashed potatoes or this style of green beans.
We weren’t gonna do a dessert, but Allison sold us on trying the Southern Peach Cobbler. Clingstone peaches, local honey, homemade biscuit topping, vanilla ice cream, & topped w/some peach vanilla coulis.
Pretty good dessert choice, but def suggest to get more moisture over the top if you order it. That biscuit top is very thick!
I’ve been here before, but for just bar food really. Def glad Allison made some good suggestions or I might have done the bar food thing again. 😜
Go check em out & try some things you wouldn’t normally try. There is some good stuff on their menu for sure!
As always, visit often, love on the staff well, and tip even better!

Be very careful what pages you follow!

This is Explore Arkansas
Can anyone tell me why Upbaba LLC in Bosnia & Herzegovina would be running a page about Exploring the Natural State?

It’s 100% a fake page, but they have 97k folks blindly following.

Don’t make the mistake. It’s very easy to avoid by checking their “Transparency” page of their acct.

This is why folks get hacked and spammed. Avoid them and every group like them posting fake post only able to be seen by clicking a link.

Oh the ole dessert pie!
Way back in the 16th Century before tomatoes were even a thing in Italy they would use different things to top their pizza, some of which were sweet such as honey, raisins, pine nuts, etc… Thus the beginning of what became known as the dessert pizza.
These recipes were handed down for generations upon generations, but then came the modern era of the sweet side of pizza. Chef’s would see just how creative they could get, even sometimes getting creative w/even the dough. You can find places that now make their dessert pizza dough like that of brownie batter or a homemade cookie. Many just use their house dough and skip out on the herbs & spices they would normally use for a savory pie. The creativity is what makes it so special and tempting.
My most recent stop made for a very tough decision when it came to dessert, because they have a handful of very interesting options. As you can see I went w/the s’mores pizza, and the minute it came out I knew I had made the right choice!
What is your fav dessert pizza? Not one you make at home, but one you find at a local pizza joint somewhere around the country.
Oh…this s’mores pizza came from the popular local joint to NE Arkansas known as 1812 Pizza Company. It was FABULOUS!!!

Finally got my hands on some Loblolly Creamery Mighty Peach!!!
Everywhere I’ve been has been out, but last night as I was passing thru Benton I detoured into downtown to stop in for some of the best ice cream in the state.
If you’ve never had their Might Peach(seasonal) or their Key Lime Pie flavors, then you have got to make the stop to the nearest location that carries their product, or just stop by one of their brick & mortar joints.

The Might Peach is a brown sugar ice cream with Arkansas peaches and bourbon caramel swirl. Made in collaboration with the The Mighty Rib to benefit the Arkansas Advocates for Children & Families.

In a state inundated w/chain ice cream joints, places like Loblolly are unicorns. Not many places that are local & serve ice cream thats lovingly made with real, quality ingredients starting with their very own scratch-made base.

Keep making Arkansas proud Loblolly!
