Happy National Rural Health Day!! We certainly feel blessed at RCC to have such an amazing physician and all other staff providing care in our rural community!

One of WI rural healthcare hero: Dr. Melissa Lucarelli, Medical Director, Randolph Community Clinic

Dr. Melissa Lucarelli, who just celebrated 25 years in practice, is a rural health community hero in Randolph, WI (pop. 1,632).

As one of the few remaining independent family medicine clinics in the state, Randolph Community Clinic and Dr. Lucarelli provide vital primary care to the surrounding communities. During the pandemic, the clinic was the first in the area to offer rapid COVID-19 tests and to administer COVID-19 vaccinations. The clinic did not shut down during the pandemic and in fact, worked to expand its services. They organized school and local business employee vaccination programs. They started offering telehealth care and advocated to bring broadband internet service to the community. They started an occupational health program and began offering free vaccines to eligible children through the Vaccines For Children program. The clinic is a proud member of the Randolph Chamber of Commerce and supports many civic and school clubs, teams, and organizations.

Dr. Lucarelli serves as the medical advisor to both Randolph and Cambria-Friesland school districts, rounds at the local nursing home and is a member of the medical staff at the hospitals in Beaver Dam and Waupun. Dr. Lucarelli and the ten dedicated employees at the Randolph Community Clinic don't just deliver up-to-date and compassionate medical care to the local community, they are rural health community heroes.

Did you hear!?

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine received FULL approval from the FDA today. Find more information from the CDC here, https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-approves-first-covid-19-vaccine. RCC is pretty excited, this is the vaccine we have been administering through the pandemic.

The vaccine also received its official name with it's full approval. The Pfizer vaccine is now called Cormirnaty. (Don't ask us to pronounce it yet, we are still working on that!)
