When a kind-hearted member of our community found this tiny kitten, they knew something was terribly wrong. They immediately rushed her to the vet, where it was discovered that she likely had a broken leg. From there, she was taken to Firefly Urgent Care, where the amazing team examined her and performed X-rays to see the extent of her injuries.

The results were devastating. This precious 7-week-old kitten, now named Lilo, wasn't suffering from just one broken leg but both of her tiny rear legs were broken.

It's hard to imagine the pain and fear this little baby had been living with. At only seven weeks old, she should have been playing, exploring, and enjoying life. Instead, she was struggling with injuries no kitten should ever have to endure.

The team at Firefly immediately contacted us for help, and of course, we said yes. Lilo was carefully sedated, her fragile legs were splinted, and she was given medication to ease her pain and bring her some comfort.

Wanting to ensure she receives the specialized care she needs, we reached out to our friends at Kitty Salvation, who are experienced in caring for special-needs rescues. Without hesitation, they opened their hearts and said YES to helping Lilo.

Berks Cats in Crisis will be covering Lilo's medical care as she begins a long road to recovery. She is scheduled to see an orthopedic surgeon and will require ongoing appointments and treatment to give her the best chance at healing and living a normal, happy life.

Today, we are asking for your help.

Lilo's journey is only beginning, and her medical expenses will continue to grow. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help provide the surgeries, treatments, medications, and care she needs to heal. Please donate to Berks Cats in Crisis, PO Box 723, Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis.

We will also be sharing Kitty Salvation's wish list, as Lilo may need special supplies during her recovery.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has already stepped up to help this tiny kitten. To the compassionate person who stopped to help her, to the veterinary teams who provided immediate care, to Kitty Salvation for welcoming her, and to our supporters who make rescues like this possible, we are deeply grateful.

Lilo has a difficult road ahead, but because of your kindness, she does not have to walk it alone.

Please consider donating and sharing her story. Together, we can give this sweet little girl the future she deserves. ❤️🐾

At just 5 weeks old, this tiny kitten has already endured more hardship than most animals experience in a lifetime.

Davy was found at a greenhouse, where caring individuals noticed he was missing a foot. Wanting to help but knowing the medical care he needed would be costly, they reached out to Berks Cats in Crisis for assistance.

We immediately arranged for Davy to be seen by a veterinarian. The examination revealed that his missing foot was the result of a traumatic injury. To keep him comfortable and prevent infection, Davy has received medications and treatment while awaiting surgery. He is now scheduled for a full leg amputation, which will give him the best chance at a healthy, pain-free future.

Despite everything he has been through, Davy is a sweet, resilient little fighter who deserves the opportunity to live a happy and comfortable life.

We are currently accepting donations to help cover the costs of Davy's veterinary care and surgery. Every dollar makes a difference and brings this brave little kitten one step closer to the life he deserves. Donations can be made to Berks Cats in Crisis, PO Box 723, Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis.

We are so grateful for your continued support and compassion for cats in need in our area. ❤️

🧡 Meet Bob. 🧡

This handsome young orange boy from Mohnton found himself in a very painful situation after suffering a severe degloving injury to his tail. We received a call from BluePearl and knew he needed help right away.

After reaching out to our amazing rescue partners, Wyomissing Animal Hospital stepped up and got Bob into surgery immediately. Thanks to their quick action and compassionate care, Bob's surgery was a success! Not only were they able to address his injured tail, but they also neutered him and brought all of his vaccinations up to date.

Today, Bob is safe, comfortable, and recovering with his finder. While he still has some healing ahead of him, his future is looking much brighter than it did just a few days ago.

Stories like Bob's remind us why we do what we do. Emergency medical care is expensive, but every animal deserves a chance to heal and live a healthy life. We couldn't say "yes" to cats like Bob without the support of our community.

If you would like to help offset the cost of Bob's surgery and medical care, donations can be made to our program at:

Berks Cats in Crisis, PO Box 723, Reading PA 19607 or paypal.me/berkscatsincrisis.

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue saying "yes" when animals need us most.

Bob may never know how many people came together to help him, but we do. From the veterinary team that rushed him into surgery to every supporter who makes our work possible, this little orange guy has a whole community behind him.

Thank you for caring, thank you for sharing his story, and thank you for helping Bob heal. ❤️

Anna came to us as a stray and was assessed by the vet. We initially believed she was suffering from pyometra, a serious infection of the uterus that can be life-threatening if left untreated.

Thankfully, our veterinarian was able to fit her in for surgery right away. Thanks to their quick care and intervention, Anna is now recovering well and feeling so much better.

We are incredibly grateful for the veterinary team at TVOM who helped her and for everyone who supports cats like Anna when they need it most. From surviving on the streets to receiving the care she deserved, Anna is now on the road to a healthier, happier future.

Please send Anna your well wishes as she continues her recovery. 🐾

Sometimes, one person's decision to stop and help can change everything.

One evening, Justin was driving home when he witnessed the car in front of him strike a cat. Frightened and injured, the cat ran into the bushes along the side of the road. With darkness quickly approaching, many people may have assumed there was nothing they could do. But not Justin.

For nearly an hour, he searched until he finally found the cat. He rushed him to BluePearl Emergency Hospital, where we were contacted to assist with his care. The cat, whom they temporarily named "Bob," was struggling and immediately required oxygen support. An examination revealed missing teeth and possible injuries to his front legs. Blood work and X-rays were ordered as the veterinary team worked to stabilize him.

The good news was that he tested negative for both feline leukemia and FIV. Even more surprising, the X-rays revealed something unexpected a microchip that had migrated down into his leg. Suddenly, there was hope that this beloved cat belonged to someone who had been missing him.

Then, at 3 a.m., the phone rang.

Chelsea answered and heard the words she had been waiting weeks to hear: "We found Marley."

The excitement and relief were overwhelming. Although Marley was not yet out of danger and required two more days of hospitalization and oxygen therapy, he continued to fight. Once he was stable enough, Chelsea was finally able to bring him home.

The reunion was nothing short of heartwarming. Marley was reunited not only with his family but also with his best friend, the family dog. Watching them together again was an emotional reminder of why every effort to help matters.

Welcome home, Marley. We are so grateful to have been a small part of your journey back to the people who love you.

And a very special thank you to Justin. Because you stopped. Because you cared. Because you didn't give up searching. You helped bring Marley home. ❤️

We received a call from a concerned resident in Hamburg about a young cat suffering from a wound on his leg. Local rescuers quickly responded to assess the situation and discovered he was facing much more than an injured leg. He also had significant swelling on the side of his face and a severely distended abdomen.

Our friends at BCC were able to safely trap him and transport him to an emergency veterinary hospital for immediate care. There, the veterinary team examined him and performed bloodwork in hopes of finding a path forward.

The young cat, whom they named Vincent, was running a fever and his heart rate was declining rapidly. His bloodwork revealed additional serious complications. After a thorough evaluation, the veterinarian explained that Vincent's condition was far too advanced and that, after going so long without treatment, he was unlikely to recover.

While this is not the outcome anyone hoped for, we find comfort in knowing that Vincent did not spend his final hours alone. Because a concerned person spoke up, local rescuers stepped in, BCC answered the call, and a dedicated veterinary team provided him with compassion and care when he needed it most.

We wish every story ended differently. But even when we cannot save them, we can make sure they are seen, cared for, and loved. Thank you to everyone who played a part in helping Vincent. He mattered, and he will not be forgotten.

Waking up early and heading to the gym in Wyomissing, you never know what you might encounter.

On this morning, a kind-hearted gentleman came across a tiny 10 week old injured kitten on the side of the road. Without hesitation, he stopped, carefully scooped her up, and rushed her to the emergency veterinarian, determined to give her a chance.

Upon examination, it was clear she had suffered significant trauma. During surgery, multiple wounds needed to be addressed. A jugular laceration was repaired, one front leg wound was cleaned, closed, and splinted due to a fracture, and the other front leg was opened to be cleaned and treated. It was then that the surgical team discovered something devastating.

The injury was so severely infected throughout the bone and cartilage that little Hillary had no chance of recovery. Despite every effort to save her, she would not survive.

Our hearts broke with the news. We tried everything we could, but we were unable to save her.

They named her Hillary.

Afterward, we called the gentleman who had brought her in to share the heartbreaking outcome. He told us he had been hoping to adopt her because he thought she was so beautiful.

While Hillary's story did not have the ending we all hoped for, it serves as a reminder that compassion still exists all around us. We are incredibly grateful for people who take the time to stop, help, and show kindness to animals in need.

Thank you for caring. Thank you for giving Hillary a chance. Though her time was short, she was loved, and she did not face the end alone. ❤️

After 8 Weeks missing, Buddy Is Finally Going Home!

A few weeks ago, we received a call about a cat outside a liquor store in Sinking Spring. He was in rough shape, badly beaten up, covered in wounds, and desperately in need of help.

Thankfully, our friend Joe from Berks Community Cats stepped in and was able to safely contain him. Once we got a closer look, we realized just how much this sweet boy had endured. Despite everything, he was incredibly affectionate and seemed to have so much to tell us, greeting everyone with constant meows.

The staff and friends at the liquor store had named him Ozzy, and we immediately began treatment for his upper respiratory infection, eye infection, and numerous wounds. Antibiotics were started right away, his eye was treated, and surgery was scheduled.

Then came a message we were not expecting... Joe forwarded us a flyer for a missing cat in the area that looked remarkably like Ozzy. We eagerly called the number, and the family came to meet him. He was theirs!!

Ozzy was actually Buddy, a beloved family pet who had been missing for more than 8 weeks.

There was so much relief as Buddy's family was finally reunited with him. While he still has some healing to do, he will be heading home this weekend, right where he belongs and where he is deeply loved.

Stories like Buddy's remind us why we do this work. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, Buddy received the medical care, shelter, and love he needed until his family could be found.

Thank you for helping Buddy. We couldn't do it without you. ❤️
