Connecting with our community is one of our favorite things to do! This month, we've enjoyed visiting with students, seniors and community members at several great events throughout the area, including:

• Health Class – St. John’s Lutheran 5th Grade
• CPR & First Aid – St. John’s Lutheran 7th Grade
• Job Fair – Career Center of Southern Illinois
• Nurse Career Fair – Beck School of Nursing
• Rural Aging Summit – Saric Consulting, Smithton Senior Center
• Monroe County EMS Open House – Waterloo

As we celebrate National Hospital Week with the theme "Healing Happens Here,” we reflect with gratitude on the rich history of Red Bud Regional Hospital and the compassionate mission that started it all.

The story begins with the Sisters of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, who arrived in the United States as a teaching order but were soon called to something more when the Red Bud community asked for help caring for the sick. What began as acts of kindness grew into the opening of St. Clement Hospital in 1900.

As healthcare needs expanded, so did the vision. Through the generous support of the community, a second hospital was built in 1971, ultimately becoming what we know today as Red Bud Regional Hospital.

More than a century after its beginnings, the heart of this hospital remains the same: a commitment to care, compassion, and community. Healing truly happens here—rooted in history, carried forward by generations of caregivers, and lived out every day in service to our patients.

To our community - thank you for supporting Red Bud Regional Hospital for more than 125 years. You are the reason we are still here today!

Emergency nurses are there when fear arrives suddenly—bringing calm, comfort, and reassurance in the middle of crisis.

Surgery nurses are there when uncertainty is highest—offering steady presence and comfort before and after the unknown.

Med/Surg nurses are there in the long moments of healing—providing patience, encouragement, and quiet strength along the way.

Clinic nurses are there in everyday life—listening, supporting, and helping patients feel cared for and understood.

In every setting, nurses are there—offering compassion, comfort, and hope when it matters most. This Nurses Week, we thank all nurses for the roles they play in caring for our patients and community. Thank you!
