I love dogs almost as much as I love kids — which means I especially love when dogs and kids grow up loving each other. 🤍

But that relationship starts with safe introductions and thoughtful interactions.

Around 35 weeks, all of my clients go through a postpartum planning meeting with me. We talk about the fun things — nursery setup, coming-home outfits, all the excitement — but we also talk about the things that can make those early weeks feel hard.

How will you and your partner handle stress and exhaustion? What household tasks can we let slide for a little while? How will older siblings be supported? How do we navigate well-meaning family members? And, if there’s a dog at home, how do we introduce baby safely?

I’ve completed additional training specifically around safe dog-and-baby introductions. I always want the plan to feel collaborative and realistic for your family, but I’ll also speak up if something could create an unnecessary safety concern.
