Did you know the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) offers text message reminders for people enrolled in some health care insurance programs?

These messages will include important health insurance eligibility information, such as reminders about deadlines or requests for information that county or tribal servicing agencies, or DHS, need to renew your health care insurance. DHS will never ask for personal information over text and your participation in the text messaging program is voluntary. Choosing not to participate will not impact your eligibility. The Goodhue County Health & Human Services Board has proclaimed September 2026 to be Su***de Prevention Awareness Month in Goodhue County. We encourage everyone to recognize the signs of a mental health crisis, seek help if you are struggling, and stay informed of the resources available for support.

This September, we are sharing how to recognize if you or someone you know is struggling, how to ask for and offer support, and local mental health resources that can help.

You are not alone, and it’s okay to ask for help.

A Cannon Falls transmission sub-station near Byllesby Dam is the cause for the power outage for nearly 1700 residents in and around Cannon Falls which occurred Sunday evening around 8 p.m. Crews are working diligently to repair the sub-station. There are some local businesses that are offering their sites to charge phones and are open for service as well. Please use the link for updates to Xcel regarding the outage. You can also sign up to receive updates for your address pertaining to when power will be restored.
