Every baby deserves a safe night’s sleep. As a Gold-certified Cribs for Kids® National Safe Sleep Hospital, Redlands Community Hospital is committed to teaching every family the safest ways to put their babies to sleep, starting before they leave our care.

Remember the ABCs of safe sleep:
🔹 Alone: no blankets, pillows, bumpers, or toys in the sleep space
🔹 Back: place baby on their back for every sleep, naps included
🔹 Crib: use a firm, flat sleep surface made for infants, like a crib or bassinet

The Emergency Department never pauses. In a setting shaped by urgent needs, crowded spaces and constant decisions, Vice President, Todd Sexton and Patient Flow Navigator, Ciera Wagner began their Role Exchange from two very different perspectives.

Todd saw firsthand how patient flow, capacity and communication affect the experience of care - and how staff remain composed, collaborative and compassionate under pressure. Ciera gained insight into the planning behind executive decisions and the responsibility of balancing today's needs with long-term investments in people, technology and patient care.

Their exchange also reinforced something deeply human: staff value leaders who are present, engaged and ready to hear their experiences directly.

When leaders listen and frontline team members understand the decisions behind the work, trust grows. And stronger trust creates stronger teams for our patients.
