If you want mobility, you need stability! đź’Ş

Kneeling is a powerful way to build core strength, the foundation for crawling, standing, and walking. This simple activity helps babies develop coordination, body awareness, and weight shifting, all while preparing for those big milestones ahead.

Try it at home by supporting your baby over your leg and encouraging them to reach for a toy, then gradually reduce support as they grow stronger. Small steps now lead to big movement later!

When a child feels overwhelmed, their body is asking for support, not correction. đź’›

Targeted sensory input helps kids feel calm, organized, and ready to engage. Simple activities like blowing bubbles, swinging, or pushing heavy objects can regulate the nervous system and bring the body back to a place of safety and control.

When the body feels grounded, the brain is free to focus, connect, and learn. That’s the power of play.

Want to get kids excited about challenging motor activities? Add bubbles! 🫧

Bubbles turn hard work into play, encouraging crawling, reaching, and building postural control on the swing as kids stretch and move to pop them. Simple, fun, and so effective for motivating movement and skill-building.

Movement in all directions = stronger brains and bodies. 🌀

The vestibular system is key for balance, posture, eye movements, and regulation, and it thrives when kids experience movement in every direction: side to side, front to back, up and down, and rotation.

At DPK, we turn this into fun, purposeful play that builds coordination, attention, and emotional regulation. Because when kids move more, they grow more. đź’«

Play isn’t just fun, it’s how kids process big emotions! 🌟

When your child crashes cars or acts out “scary” roles, they’re often working through stress or big feelings in a safe way.

By allowing and observing these moments, you’re helping them self-regulate and integrate their emotional responses. It’s their way of releasing stress and building emotional resilience. 💛 Let their play lead the way!

What’s happening at DPK this week? 💫

We’re loving Hungry Hippos for strengthening and ball skills, sensory-rich car races for hands-on exploration, MagnaTiles for teamwork and building together, and emotion ball games to grow social thinking and connection with friends. So many ways to learn, move, and play!

One of our most popular games at DPK, Dodge Ball Jumps! đź’Ą

This high-energy game builds motor planning, timing, strength, agility, and coordination, all while kids are having SO much fun. It’s easy to set up at home too: create two lanes and have your child jump to dodge balls rolling toward them. Simple, active, and packed with skill-building!

Focus starts in the body, not just the mind. 🧠

When kids move with a "stop" and "start" component towards a functional goal, their brains learn to engage, organize, and stay on task. Play is one of the most powerful ways to build attention from the inside out.

Play isn’t just a break from learning, it is learning! 🌟

Through play, kids explore, create, problem-solve, and grow. It’s how they develop essential skills, build confidence, and make sense of the world around them.

Let’s celebrate the work of childhood, play! 🎉
