What is ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, and who might benefit from it?💫

We’re excited to share this video series on ketamine-assisted psychotherapy with you. Our own Sarah Easton, LCSW, breaks it down. From persistent depression and trauma to inner critic work and depth-oriented exploration, KAP opens doors that traditional talk therapy sometimes can’t. Watch to hear Sarah explain how and why.💫

✨Jung understood something that sits at the heart of therapy: what we cannot see in ourselves tends to run the show.✨

Therapy offers a place to bring those patterns into view. Not to judge them, but to understand them. That is where real choice begins.💛

🌿Redwoods don’t grow fast. They grow deep, steady, and grounded in the earth.🌿

Roots first. Then height.

We use the redwood as a symbol because we believe that’s what real growth looks like. Not urgent. Not linear. Just steady, rooted, and ongoing.

After all, we are all still growing.🌲

🪴When the mind is too activated to respond to reasoning, the body offers another way in.🪴

Half-Smile & Willing Hands is a DBT mindfulness skill that uses subtle physical shifts (a softened face, open palms) to signal acceptance rather than resistance to the nervous system.

It’s not about forcing positivity or pretending things are fine. It’s about loosening the grip just enough to get through the moment.💚

🌱Therapist spotlight: Alex Mitchell, LMFT🌱

Alex earned his master’s from the California Institute of Integral Studies with a focus in somatic psychotherapy, and has provided body-oriented, holistic care across community, school-based, and crisis settings. Informed by the Hakomi Method, client-centered and psychodynamic approaches, Alex works with the whole person, body and mind, bringing a spirit of lightness and curiosity to his sessions. He supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and intense emotions in getting unstuck from old patterns and rediscovering a sense of agency and peace.

💫We know that cost can be a barrier to getting support, and we want to change that where we can.💫

We are now accepting Blue Shield of California insurance for individual therapy for children, teens, and adults. If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, we hope this makes it a little more possible.✨

🌱Growth takes time. Real, deep growth especially.🌱

Progress in therapy doesn’t always feel like progress. Sometimes it looks like showing up when you didn’t want to. Saying the thing you’ve never said out loud. Sitting with discomfort instead of moving past it.

Something tender is emerging. Even when you can’t see it yet.💛

When you’re ready to begin, we’re here. Learn more and schedule a free consultation — 🔗link in bio🔗

🌿 Spotlight: Cooper Cearns, APCC 🌿

Cooper earned his master’s in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute and got his start in the mental health field as a volunteer on King County’s crisis line, an experience that speaks to the kind of clinician he is. He completed his practicum at the Piedmont Unified School District Wellness Center, supporting teens alongside their families and school communities.

Certified in Trauma-Focused CBT and drawing from Buddhist psychology, mindfulness, and existential therapy, Cooper works with teens and adults navigating depression, anxiety, loss, relationship challenges, men’s issues, and psychedelic integration. He’s especially drawn to questions of meaning, purpose, and authenticity and shows up to the therapy room as a genuine, curious fellow explorer rather than an expert with all the answers. ✨

🪷Even though these words were written about the world, they’re just as true about the self.🪷

What we turn away from, we can’t change. What we’re willing to face, even slowly, even imperfectly, is where growth begins.🤍

If you’re ready to begin that work, we’re here. We offer therapy in Berkeley, Redwood City, and via telehealth. Schedule a free consultation - 🔗link in bio🔗
